Stare Upon Our Wines
All that aside... wine drinkers are a rare breed, aren't they? On the one hand, they enjoy the taste and flavors of a variety of wines. On the other hand, they generally despise the taste and flavors of an entirely different variety of wines. How can you keep the two lists apart? How can you make ALL wine drinkers happy?
Pffft. That pipe dream will never happen. The closest we can get is an endless parade of wine. Hopefully, something you like will show up before you storm off in anger, cursing our name and demanding that we're pressed into service with the consortium of Wine Pirates that secretly sale the Nine Seas.
Oh, you didn't know about the two secret seas? Gee. Forget we said anything about them, then. Guess they're only for the COOL people.
Features
2012 Stillman Petite Sirah, Paso Robles, "Deep Purple" 750ml 2-Pack
A moderate stylistic departure from my previous Petite Sirahs and Syrahs, this bottling is considerably more tannic: nothing two hours in the decanter or a rib eye won’t cure, though it will certainly hold over a decade in the bottle. Darker than the label, the wine shows aromas and flavors of ripe blackberry and blueberry, vanilla and smoky spices, with a firm but fine tannin structure. Primarily from Brohaugh Vineyard just outside Templeton, the higher tannic structure of the 2011 blended well with the precocious fruit of the 2012; thus the lack of a vintage on the label. A little something else was added, but Stillman won’t tell Us because the respective growers might see this and do a slow Burn.

Zeppelin Winery is a very small producer of super premium wines, based on the Central Coast of California. Founded in 2009 by winemaker Stillman Brown of Red Zeppelin Winery and wine veteran Dan Lewis (he's the office guy) they produce tiny lots of Syrah and other misunderstood varietals, with almost invariably insane labels. Most can only be purchased directly, but once in a while they emerge into the light of day.
