It's a wine-off! (Not a whine-off.)
It's October. Have you checked in with your New Year's resolutions? Have you accomplished all the things you set out to do in 2014? Yeah, it's pretty demoralizing. Let's have some wine instead!
Features
2013 Dry Rosé of Zinfandel, Signature Selection, Sonoma County, Dry Creek Valley 750ml 6-Pack
Fresh aromas of rose petals and sweet strawberry jam meet in the bouquet. Cherry, vanilla and red berry flavors are highlighted in our Rosé. The wine is balanced with crispness and a refreshing fruity finish. This potpourri of flavors over time will take on a jammy element but don’t wait too long—rosés are made to be enjoyed upon release.
Signature Selection: We have been producing our Rosé since the 1954 vintage. A name change in 2007 helped to define our style and set it apart from the lighter and sweeter White Zinfandel. Grapes for our Dry Rosé of Zinfandel were harvested from the Pedroncelli estate along with fruit from one other vineyard. The area’s well-drained rocky soils, hillsides, and excellent microclimate enable Zinfandel to develop generous fruit flavors. The grapes were picked in the first two weeks of September which imparts higher acidity and less sugar and gives the wine crispness and lower alcohol.
2013 Chardonnay, Signature Selection, Sonoma County, Dry Creek Valley 750ml 6-Pack
Aromatic Meyer lemon zest and honey notes lead to flavors of golden delicious apple with a bit of tropical fruit and hint of grassiness. The blend of the two Chardonnay lots adds both fruit forward qualities and toasted oak complexity. Highlighted by bright acidity, the wine finishes crisp with a long lingering finish. Drink now—no aging required.
Vineyard Sources: We had a textbook perfect growing season and harvest in 2013. The warm summer growing season with moderate temperatures offered ideal conditions for Chardonnay and, as a result, show balanced acid and tasty fruit flavors. Grapes for this wine were harvested in mid-September and were sourced from two vineyards located at the southern end of Dry Creek Valley. The area is less than two miles from the cooler climate of the Russian River area. They benefit from the cool microclimate and alluvial soils and produce wines of exceptional fruit and balance, culminating in Chardonnay of great character and quality.

2013 Dry Rosé of Zinfandel, Signature Selection, Sonoma County, Dry Creek Valley 750ml 6-Pack
Winemaking: Over the years, we have refined our approach when it comes to the style of our Dry Rosé. The focus is on crisp acidity and true varietal character allowing the fresh Zinfandel flavors to shine. The near-perfect growing season gave the fruit good concentration of aromas and flavors. Our Rosé is made by combining free run juice with 50% saigne (juice which was drawn from the fermenting tank). Fermentation is finished in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks. Even though we make it in a dry style, the wine retains a hint of sweetness because of the fruitiness of the Zinfandel grape. Bottled a few months after harvest, the wine captures the freshness of the vintage.

2013 Chardonnay, Signature Selection, Sonoma County, Dry Creek Valley 750ml 6-Pack
Winemaking: At Pedroncelli Winery, the winemaking goal is simple: showcase the distinctive fruit of each varietal. This focus on fruit is particularly important in creating the style of Chardonnay that is our trademark. Due to the ideal harvest conditions and excellent quality this vintage is fully flavored with a rich texture and balanced acids. We use stainless steel tanks to ferment 80% of the blend, capturing the fresh fruit flavors. The balance was separately barrel fermented in American oak barrels and aged for seven months before being blended with the larger portion. The barrel fermentation and a small amount of secondary or “malolactic” fermentation added some rich and creamy notes giving a boost of complexity to the finished wine.
- Appellation: Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma County
- Barrel Aging: 20% of the blend was fermented and aged in American oak for 7 months
- Alcohol: 14.2%
- pH: 3.53
- Total Acidity: .600g/100mg
