Read carefully
Oh no! I’ve made a mistake! I just wanted some wine to serve at my book club. What I received are four LPs from an 80s New Wave band. I was hoping for some of the 2006 Reserve Zinfandel’s aromas of plum, ripe blackberries or even the 2007 Lang Wines Amador County Zinfandel’s hint of smokiness. Not that these LPs aren’t hazy enough. They kind of sound like they were recorded in a bathroom on an airplane.
This just won’t do. I want to discuss the book over wine, not music. If you even can call this music. I was hoping for something with notes of blueberry jam, cocoa and toast – like the 2007 Lang Wines Amador County Barbera – or something silky and smooth – like the 2008 Sausalito Wines Zinfandel. All I’ve got here, though, are synthesizer notes, just three of them over all four albums. And they’re not played smoothly. Not at all.
Well, I guess without wine, we’ll just have to rely on our discussion of the reading to provide the fun. Oh gosh, this is going to be terrible!

Smooth and delicious, its aromas are of vanilla, bacon and raspberry together with hints of cranberry, campfire and mint, all leading to a palate of blueberry jam, cocoa and toast with a juicy even zippy finish. The most food-friendly of red wines, this Barbera pairs well with just about anything…but it certainly “sings” for Italian.
