Great Wines Think Alike
Austin Hope 2009 Grenache, did you say you’re a balanced wine? That’s crazy! I have really good balance too! I’m a gymnast! I’ve got trophies to prove it! And wait a friggin second, Austin Hope 2009 Grenache, did you just say that you have a bouquet of dried cherry, raspberry, cocoa, earth and spices? Are you serious, or are you just joking because you know that, aside from gymnastics, making potpourri and dried fruit arrangements is my favorite thing to do. I’ve got medals from garden club competitions to prove it!
And hold on! You’re soft, yet powerful with flavors of fig, cherry, and notes of pepper and licorice which leave a smooth long finish of red berries and herbs. This is just getting too wild! I’m also soft, as in kind-hearted, but powerful, as in muscular from all my gymnastics. And I use a special, doctor prescribed fig-cherry-licorice-red-berry-herb body wash! Next thing you’re going to tell me is that you develop with age. WHAT??? You do??? Me too! My trainers – both in gymnastics and in dried fruit arrangements/potpourri – say that I have yet to reach my full potential!
Is there anything we don’t have in common? Oh, well yeah, I guess there isn’t two of me. Yet. TO THE LAB!!!

One of the goals of Austin Hope Winery is to make the best Rhone wines in California. “When I first tasted Côte Rotie, I fell in love,” says Austin Hope. The pursuit took him to that very region in France, where he studied their vineyards and unique style of winemaking. Today Austin Hope Winery is in full swing, the new winery nestled amongst the vines on the estate vineyard. The winery is truly a family operation, Austin and his daughters Ainsley and Avery are often found out farming the vineyard or in the winery tending to the wine. “Having my family and myself being involved “hands on” in the winery is very important to me,” says Austin proudly.
