As a varietal, Zinfandel tends to throw caution to the wind and err on the side of fun. While not losing sight of its rambunctious roots, our 2014 Carpoforo Zinfandel maintains its regal composure. Belying its bracing acidity, this wine presents itself with an intense scarlet color. The playful nose is flush with aromas of bright raspberry and creamy vanilla. There is strong progression from the aromatics to the palate; concentrated raspberry flavors are elevated by subtle notes of toasted oak. While the flavors are lush and juicy, the wine has an agreeable weight, allowing for versatility in food pairing.
Winemaker Soren Christensen provides some background on the wine and winery. Take a couple of minutes to listen - you won't be disappointed!
