2009 Black Zeppelin Central Coast 750ml 3-Pack
A blend of some of our best lots went into this flagship wine; six barrels and puncheons of this Black Zeppelin were made from two vineyards of clone 3 Petite Sirah, one in southwestern Monterey County and one in Paso Robles, as well as a very low yielding clone 7 Syrah from Paso Robles; a tiny amount of Alicante Bouschet was added for completely redundant color. The finished wine shows dark cherry and plum fruit, black pepper and clove, caramel oak and smoky cedar flavors, and has a long finish.
- Gold Medal 2012 Pacific Rim International (This wine's first competition)
Winemaker Stillman Brown recently tasted the wine and had the following to say:
Recent tasting note (4/1/2014) I opened a fresh bottle and also tried a bottle that had been opened four days ago and had one glass left. Minimal changes to aromas and flavors; the pepper and clove are slightly diminished, the fruit and oak slightly stronger. The structure is considerably smoother than it was soon after bottling, though the wine will clearly continue to improve as the tannins evolve; given optimal storage it may outlast the winemaker.
I'm always available to answer questions or discuss the wine offer (or life in general).

Zeppelin Winery is a very small producer of super premium wines, based on the Central Coast of California. Founded in 2009 by winemaker Stillman Brown of Red Zeppelin Winery and wine veteran Dan Lewis (he's the office guy) they produce tiny lots of Syrah and other misunderstood varietals, with almost invariably insane labels. Most can only be purchased directly, but once in a while they emerge into the light of day.
