Features
2010 Calaveras County Carignane 750ml
Even if you can’t pronounce it, bright aromas and flavors of blueberries, chocolate, pepper, and allspice are certain to make your mouth happy. This Carignane comes from the Tanner vineyard directly across highway 4 from the winery. This is just the second year Twisted Oak has harvested any significant fruit from this block. At veraison, they thinned the fruit on this block down to approximately 3.5 tons/acre to concentrate the typical bright fruit characters of Carignane.
Food Pairings: Bunnies and chicks! Quail, game hens, or even good old chicken rabbit - or really any grilled meats or veggies
2009 Calaveras County Petite Sirah 750ml
Massive aromas of cherries and blueberries, with touches of black pepper - along with humongous jammy flavors of black cherry cola and leather - leading to a ginormous finish of semisweet chocolate.
Food Pairings: Steak and Eggs! any grilled meat, even SPAM! or bacon... mmmm, bacon... and of course french toast and custard donuts... mmmm, donuts... Or how about a big fat ribeye steak. And a sauce for that? Try a reduction with finely chopped shallots and carrot, a sprig’s worth of rosemary, and a little lavender or dried Herbs du Provence.
2009 Tanner Vineyard Syrah 750ml
The Tanner Vineyard Syrah has the classic heavy mettle of Calaveras Syrah that Led Twisted Oak to go to California and to make wine here. Sweet aromas of cherries & strawberries are sure to leave you Dazed and Confused. Twisted Oak also expects you will have a Whole Lotta Love for the big cherry and strawberry flavors. Deep earthy undertones Bring It On Home for a nice finish. Twisted Oak could Ramble On about this Heartbreaker of a wine, but they don’t want to end up swinging from the Gallows Pole.
Food pairings: Carnivore Joy! Any steak, plain or swimming in a big rich sauce! For example: Top Sirloin topped with Dungeness Crab, Porcini Mushrooms, and Gorgonzola cream sauce. And of course cheeses. Stinky stinky cheeses.

This Syrah comes from the Tanner Vineyard right in their valley. The vineyard has a gentle south-facing slope with very shallow soils and great (sometimes too great) drainage. This allows better control of the irrigation, although with soils this shallow, they are often giving this vineyard much more water than other Calaveras sites.
At the winery, the grapes were destemmed into open topped tanks for fermentation, where they gently punched down the cap three times a day. At the end of fermentation, this Syrah was put to barrels in our 300 foot long barrel. The wine was aged in French, American and Hungarian Oak barrels for complexity and to soften the tannins.
