Sporting Wine
Every athlete has their formula for success. Whether it's football players and Gatorade, race car drivers and milk, or the ToonSquad and their use of Michael Jordan's "Secret Stuff."
But what about croquet players? As far as we know, they don't have an official drink. Our proposal? Tessa Marie Coquette.
With its aromas of bright red fruit, black currant, and a hint of molasses, it's a perfect accompaniment to the spring gardens surrounding a croquet court. Take your mallet in one hand and a glass of this Coquette in the other, and you have what you need for a fine afternoon of croquet. We can't think of anything we'd rather drink while whacking balls through wickets. Can you?
Features
Coquette presents playful aromas of bright red fruit, black currant and a hint of molasses. With Sangiovese being its principal component, this wine has good acidity to marry beautifully with food, as well as wonderful raspberry and black cherry flavors on the palate. The supple tannins, spice and plum character in the Syrah, along with the new oak in this blend, creates a well-balanced fruit-forward wine to enjoy for years.

Tessa sources most of her fruit from Camp 4 Vineyard, Hampton Vineyard, and Rodney's Vineyard; some of the most esteemed vineyards in Santa Barbara County. " I like to make New World-style wines with bold, stand-out flavors, that still demonstrate balance." Tessa Marie makes her wines in a small, unassuming industrial warehouse space nearby. "For me, making wine is really about making art. I don't mean that I take it all too seriously, it's just that I like to take my time when I'm making wine. I rely much more upon my intuition and sense of taste, when I'm in the cellar, than on analysis. I guess my approach is intuitive, more than anything else."
