Oui.
Bonjour to you. I am Couche zee Coquerel. I hope you enjoy zee Verdelho zat is being offered on zees day. Eat it with leetle shrimps. Eat lots of zee shrimps. I detest zee shrimps. They are egomaniacs, all of zem. Compensating for zee tiny size, you see.
Did you know French roosters do not say “cock-a-doodle-do?” No! It is a silly zing to say. In France, we say, “cocorico!” We never doodle.
Of course, if I were a Spanish coque, I would say, “Quiquiriquí!” And zee Italian coques, they say, “chicchirichí!” Again, we do not do zee doodling.
Zee shrimps say nothing, for zee shrimps are, how you say, zee bags of dirt. Pitooee. I spit upon zem.
I zink we’ve covered a lot here. I hope zis was a gratifying experience. Santé.

2012 Verdelho 750ml 6-Pack
Coquerel Family Wine Estates is located just beyond the town of Calistoga at the north end of the Napa Valley. The heart and soul of our winery is our estate vineyard, a gorgeous, oak-studded property that sits in the afternoon shadows of the Mayacamas Mountains. Since 2005, we have done extensive enhancement and replanting of the site to ensure world-class fruit from vintage to vintage. The combination of warm temperatures and deep, clay soils makes this ideal terroir for Sauvignon Blanc, our flagship variety. It also produces exceptional Verdelho, Tempranillo and Petite Sirah. In addition to our estate fruit, we source Chardonnay, Cabernet and other noble grapes from a handful of premier growers throughout the Napa Valley.
Vintage: The 2012 season started with a dryer-than-average winter when compared to the previous two years. The last notable rain occurred in April and no frost after bud break was recorded. The fruit set was excellent and consequently we had an abundant crop. This was quite welcome after the extremely low yields of the 2011 vintage. Some thinning was done around veraison to balance the crop load on select vines. The summer was warm, but no heat spikes were recorded. Cool mornings and evenings towards the end of the growing season allowed the fruit to mature properly.
Winemaking: All of the fruit for our 2012 Verdelho came from our estate vineyard in Calistoga. On September 12 we harvested the entire crop in the early morning hours under cool conditions to preserve the fresh fruit character. Fermentation and aging was done in stainless steel barrels sur lie with a weekly batonnage to increase weight and texture. The wine was bottled in May 2013.

It began as a dream to produce a superb Sauvignon Blanc in the Napa Valley modeled on the best traditions of the incredible Bordeaux blancs of France. In 2005 we were fortunate to locate a beautiful estate vineyard in Calistoga which was planted over 50 years ago on St. George rootstock. Back dropped by the Palisades, the old vines thrive in this dry-farmed vineyard which has deep soil that is well suited to growing Sauvignon Blanc.
The result -- our first estate grown wine Terroir Coquerel, followed by Le Petit Coquerel, and in 2008 our estate grown late harvest Sauvignon Blanc, La Douce Revanche. Each wine is distinctive and delicious, reflecting individually the terroir of our original Calistoga vineyard and of the elegant flavors unique to Sauvignon Blanc. One thing led to another, and as the wines received recognition, the question became, "Do you make a red wine?" As luck would have it, a vineyard property adjacent to our vineyard became available that was planted almost entirely in red varietals -- Petite Sirah, Merlot, and Tempranillo. In 2008, 2009, and 2010 we added three more wines and will add a fourth wine, Tempranillo in 2011. We think you will also enjoy our Coquerel La Petite Sirah, Merlot, and Verdelho. Each is a beautiful wine and is a delicious addition to the Coquerel family of wines.
