2013 Zinsanity Zinfandel, Lodi 750ml 6-Pack
Zinsanity is the wild and crazy idea that Zinfandel should not be an alcoholic, fat, clumsy, ugly or out of control wine, just well balanced. It is exuberant and delicious and enthusiastically looking to solve your wine choice dilemma. Zinsanity Zinfandel is fun, delicious and just a little bit crazy.
On the palate, a riot of raspberry and jammy blackberries moves to toasty spice and hints of vanilla. This wine is medium bodied with a long, warming finish.
Zinfandel – America’s adopted grape (from its distant Italian cousin, PRIMATIVO) made its way to the USA in the 19th century, though no one is really sure why it’s name changed. We even checked records at Ellis Island and there was nothing to be found!
Vineyard Info/Region: Our 2013 Zinsanity is grown in the Central Valley of California, a region that has seen much success over the past few years in cultivating expressive and balanced Zinfandel. Vineyards are situated amongst the rolling hills of Lodi, with warm, dry summers and relatively cool winters, Zinfandel thrives in this region. Such warm days attribute to a more fruit forward style, with bold fruit characteristics and dynamic flavor profiles. Wet winters, with ample rain flow through the spring maintain the balance necessary to offset such warm days during the summer months and allow such a balanced wine.
Pairing: Grilled fair or a fresh pasta Bolognese.
