2008 Toolbox Sauvignon Blanc, Dry Creek Valley 750ml 6-Pack
A 2008 SB? That's the point…not standard or typical for this varietal but Toolbox Wines feel this wine over delivers, their true mission to craft a wine similar in style to Sancerre, this fruit was sourced just north of the Russian River AVA, but you'd think it's from France – classic in style. The vineyard is on the valley floor where the morning fog creates a damp atmosphere. This allows longer hang time, enhancing the flavors while balancing the sugars and the acids. The soils from this region release great minerals and an almost steel like quality to the fruit. This is 100% Sauvignon Blanc and is a true reflection of the best of the Dry Creek appellation. With the aromas of ocean grass dunes, it is crisp and with a finish that just begs for oysters and shellfish.
2009 Toolbox Pinot Grigio, Clarksburg 750ml 6-Pack
Clarksburg is southwest of Sacramento. The summer temperatures climb into the 90’s but a soft breeze off of the Delta cools the nights into the 50’s, balancing the fruit as it struggles each day to build more sugars before the evenings cool down. This area is known for the honeyed quality it gives to the white grapes grown there. The aromas from this wine are simply foreplay for how good this is going to be in your mouth. This wine was done 100% in stainless steel and it maintains a crisp, brightness while still yielding a full mouth feel. Look for aromas of passion fruit, honey, pear and citrus. The lingering finish makes this a satisfying wine all by itself. With fruit and cheese to start or poured over grilled pound cake to finish, this wine will enhance any dining experience.
