And The Cooking Is Hearty

With autumn just around the corner, now the perfect time to grab some Summerland Reds! Wait, does that make sense?

Oh, my dear sweet oven, how I’ve missed you these past few months. Please know that it was nothing personal. It’s just that the heat of our relationship over the summer was so intense, I had to stay out of the kitchen for a while. You do understand, don’t you?

But let’s not talk about the past. I’m back, honey, and I’m ready to set the passion of our relationship back to “Broil.” Look, I even brought a Summerland Winery Red Sampler 4 Pack just for the occasion. Summerland is known for its Central Coast Reds portfolio, all blended with a more fruit forward style in mind for excellence in food pairing. I thought maybe we could celebrate by cooking up something a little hearty and hot.

This 2007 Summerland Trio Rhone Blend of Syrah, Grenache, Mourvedre, for example, and its nice, round strawberry, red fruit, and blackberry flavors will go wonderfully with a nice rare beef tenderloin or sharp cheese dish, don’t you think? Or we could start off with the 2007 Summerland French Camp Vineyard Zinfandel Paso Robles, whose racy and balanced brambleberry, pomegranate, and garden raspberry flavors combined with notes of clove, white pepper, and oak on the nose would do well with a big baked pasta dish or roasted meats. Maybe we could even put the meats IN the pasta dish and just go CRAZY!

But wait! Don’t make a decision just yet. After all, there’s still the juicy and smooth 2007 Summerland Paso Robles Grenache. It goes so well with pepperoni and sausages, we could just take it easy and bake up a homemade pizza while enjoying the warmth and spice intertwined with plum, dark cherry, and raspberry. Or, hey, we don’t have to rush into anything if you don’t want. We could just bake a little bread, slice a little cheese, and enjoy each others company with the 2008 Summerland Paso Robles Zinfandel, if smooth and spicy with black raspberry fruit and notes of clove and cinnamon is more your speed. What do you say, oven, darling? Are you ready to heat things up again?

Mmmm. You know I love your silent style, oven. I hope this autumn never ends.
