(1) - 2011 Scott Harvey Syrah, Mountain Selection, Amador County, 3L Double Magnum
2011 Scott Harvey Syrah, Mountain Selection, Amador County -- Signed by Winemaker Scott Harvey
Varietal mouth filling creamy texture with big red berry cherry fruit. Aromas of blackberry, cedar, blueberry and sweet light oak introduce fresh, bright, spicy flavors of the same laced with firm tannins that carry through the long finish.
Vineyard/Vintage Notes:
86% grown in the mountainous Syrah Vineyards of Amador County. These vineyards make up a good representation of Amador County’s ability to produce world class Syrah. They vary from steep rocky volcanic slopes to rolling Sierra mountain terrain. This mountain terroir produces low yields of first growth quality fruit. Harvest was late September in 2011 with a smaller than average crop. Grapes came in with small bunches and berry size allowing for a more extracted vintage.
Winemaker’s Notes:
Produced in a drinkable fruit forward and rich style. Aged 18 months in French oak cooperage to develop a well rounded wine with firmly structured tannins for delicious drink ability.
Vineyard Sources:
86% grown in the mountainous York Syrah Vineyard of Fiddletown, Amador County. This vineyard is a steep rocky volcanic southwest facing slope. 14% Napa Valley Old Vine Petite Sirah from the David Fulton Vineyard located in St. Helena.
