He Just Has A Dream Is All
Would you like to make a small donation? No? Well, okay, you can still come in, because I dream of a world where everyone can enjoy learning about the history of wine! Just, you know, maybe reconsider on your way out. Renting a six story building isn’t free.
But okay for now, right? Let’s get started in… The Hall Of Barbera! You may already know that Barbera goes well with many different foods, including most tomato-based dishes. It’s not super-popular, but I think that’s because of the media bias against wines with human names. You ask me, Barbera’s never been given a fare shake. So here’s the first bottle, the 2009 Amador County, J&S Reserve Barbera. It’s got notes of cherry, pepper, blackberry, and a finish of vanilla and spice. It’ll age nicely until 2020, and… whoa whoa whoa! What are you doing? Don’t try to drink the exhibitions! Would you run into the Met and lick a painting? My wine museum is about preservation, and I’m not going to let you ruin it like some kind of savage, if you’ll pardon my French. Good heavens, so uncultured.
Now, this next exhibit is the 2009 Mountain Selection Barbera. If you could smell it, you’d notice the earthy aromas and savory hints, plus some blackberry and raspberry lingering behind. Your palate would be thrilled by the notes of cola and red licorice, and maybe you’d want to visit our cafeteria downstairs. Right now we’ve got two dishes, a pasta in pink sauce for sixty-eight dollars, and a nine dollar hot dog for the kids. See, I’ve heard museums make back some money from marking up the food so… oh, you got a burger on the way here? That’s fine, no pressure. Have you considered donating yet? It’s tax-deductible!
Well, maybe our special exhibit will dazzle you into caring. See up there? In the Hall of Wonders? That’s our 2008 Mountain Selection Syrah. That’s right! A Syrah! How often do you see one of those? It’s a big creamy Syrah too, with cherry fruit and rich, spicy aromas. Don’t get too close, I had to install a high-tech laser security system for insurance reasons. It sure cost a bundle. Say, would you like to get on our mailing list to prepare for our fund raising drive? It’ll keep you up-to-date on all the new happenings here at the museum, and give you members-only access to the special roof garden! Well, no, it’s not open yet, but we’re looking to have it ready around the time that first Barbera matures. You know, for a sort of anniversary party.
Okay, that’s it! That’s the tour! Let me know if you have any questions and… well, that’s sort of insulting. I did say we were a new museum so it’s not like you didn’t know in advance. But if you’d like to request we showcase your favorite wine, we’ve got plenty of room, if you’d make a small donation we could consider naming you as a sponsor… well, thanks for coming in, then! Hope you visit us again! Tell your friends! Or your enemies! Or anyone with money, maybe? We’re free for tours too! No waiting!
