You’ve been a great companion over these hard-fought weeks since the first zombie infection. Night after night, you’ve watched our backs, saving us from the claws and teeth of the undead menace that even now beats against the door of this safe-house, desperate to rip the life from us. We’re really gonna miss you. As survivors go, you’re one of the best. Well, up until this point at least.
So, as a token of our thanks, we thought we’d get you a little something special to enjoy for the short amount of time you have left. It took some work and a lot of headshots to get, but you’ve earned this Three Pack of Schug Carneros Syrah.
We read that this was made by the gentleman who introduced Syrah to California sometime before our world fell prey to the infection. Hopefully this satisfying wine will bring back thoughts of those bright and happy days spent relaxing in the springtime sun without the worries of being eviscerated that have plagued us so. The enticing aromas of blackberry and plum, the spiciness that leads to a long juicy finish with toffee and vanilla ... it's sure to delight, even with the threat of immanent death just outside the door. If only the zombies enjoyed the “fleshiness” of Rhône varietals, we wouldn’t have to say goodbye like this. If only.

2007 Schug Carneros Syrah, Ricci Vineyard 750ml 3-Pack
In 1974 as Winemaker for Joseph Phelps, Walter Schug made the first post-prohibition Syrah in California. After thirty years, the Ricci Vineyard Syrah marks his return to working with this classic Rhône region varietal. Enticing aromas of blackberry and plum mingle with white pepper spiciness that all follow through on the palate leading to a long juicy finish with hints of toffee and vanilla.
Founded in 1980, Schug Carneros Estate Winery is the showcase and life-long dream of one of California’s most celebrated winemakers. Walter Schug’s reputation blossomed during his tenure as Founding Winemaker for Joseph Phelps Vineyards in the 1970s, where he made California’s first proprietary Bordeaux-style blend (Insignia) and legendary vineyard designated Cabernets (Backus and Eisele Vineyards).
Drawing on his long experience in the production of fine wines in both Europe and California, Walter set up his own winery with his wife Gertrud in the cool, marine climate of the Carneros Appellation. Here, he could focus on the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay varietals that had always been close to his heart.
