Strange Weather

Nothing like a good glass of wine when you're "Snowden." Get it? Snowden=Snowed in. Ugh.

"Welp. Looks like you're gonna just have to stay the night after all, what with all this snow we're getting."

I don't understand. It was supposed to be 60 degrees and sunny today.

"That's the thing about spring. You never know when the skies are gonna open up and leave you 'stranded' with the guy who has secretly been in love with you since junior high … wine?"

What did you just say?

"Huh? What? Oh that. I just said, boy am I in love with the aromas of currants, blackberries and plums in this merlot."

This is so bizarre. It's piling up really fast out there. Mind if I turn on the weather channel?

"No! You can't!"

What? Why not?

"Um, BECAUSE. Beeeecause … the REMOTE is broken."

Hey! Well it is NOW that you threw it into the fireplace. What's with you?

"Nothing! Just, REALLY excited about the toasty French oak characters in this wine. And speaking of toasty, why don't you come over here and snuggle up with me. You know, just to conserve body heat."

It actually is really chilly in here. Kinda drafty too. Do you … do you have the air conditioner running?

"Pssh. No. Why would I … heh … have the air conditioner running on a cold, snowy day like this?"

Maybe you should have the windows checked. They might need to be re ...

"DON'T OPEN THOSE BLINDS!"

What the … is that a SNOW MACHINE in your front yard?

"Huh. That's strange. How did that get here?"

I'm gonna go now.

"Hey. Ain't nobody stoppin' ya."

Features

2003 Salexis Wines, Snowden Vineyards Napa Valley Merlot 750ml 3-Pack

Salexis Wines has strived to produce the finest expression of this sometimes difficult varietal since 1998. The 2003 Salexis Merlot offers the aromas and flavors of currants, blackberries, plums, and is enveloped with toasty French oak characters. Like previous vintages of Salexis Merlot, made from hillside grapes from Snowden Vineyards, this wine holds its own against many California Cabernet Sauvignons. This wine will pair well with all red meat dishes and continue to develop for 3 to 5 years.

Winery Details

Salexis Wines

Founded:
1998
Owners:
John and Ann Gibson
Location:
Napa, CA
Salexis Wines are artistically crafted wines from John and Ann Gibson in the Napa Valley. The name Salexis is derived from their daughter's name Sarah Alexis. John is the highly skilled, well known winemaker. Ann assists John in the cellar as well as works in the office. Sarah is currently in college.

Salexis Wines began as a 20 year dream for John. While working as winemaker for family owned wineries and vineyards such as Stag's Leap Wine Cellars, Vine Cliff Winery, Snowden Vineyards, Frazier Winery, Rockledge Vineyards, Andrew Geoffrey Vineyards, Beckstoffer Vineyards, and Gerber Vineyards, John found himself among some great fruit. In 1998, when some of the best Merlot grapes in the valley were made available from Snowden Vineyards, his dream came true. Thus the first vintage of Salexis Wines was produced. About 240 cases were made of that vintage. About 500 cases of this wine was made annually until 2004 which was our last vintage of Merlot. We now concentrate our efforts on the making of Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon.
