We’re partial to Northwest wines here, you know. We even briefly attempted to market our own wines featuring names that truly embody the unique characteristics of this region, such as ...
-Sequim Dreams Syrah
-Eternal Drizzle Blend
-Barnacle Barolo
-Snail Mating Season Merlot
-Ew I Just Stepped On Some Snails That Were Doing It Cabernet
-Marshawn Merlot
-Unkempt Beard Barolo
-Rickets Riesling
Ross Andrew Winery went in a different direction with its Cabernet Sauvignon, it seems. Rather than selecting a name that implies sogginess, Ross Andrew places greater emphasis on delivering a wine with palate-saturating dark berry, black cherry and tobacco flavors.
Maybe there’s a lesson in that for us. Maybe Everything's Rusty Riesling was doomed from the beginning.
Features
2008 Ross Andrew Winery Cabernet Sauvignon, Columbia Valley 750ml 3-Pack
Expressive aromas of black fruits, minerals and graphite, plus a whiff of menthol.
Round, sweet and accessible, with palate-saturating dark berry, black cherry and tobacco flavors. Very sexy, round wine, finishing with substantial but sweet tannins.
Aromatics: Deep, bright ruby. Very primary aromas of cassis, licorice, graphite and violet.
Palate: Juicy and sharply delineated, with good spicy lift to the flavors of dark berries, cocoa powder, coffee and violet. A youthfully tight but classy cabernet.
The cooler temperatures of 2008 allowed Ross Andrew Winery to harvest the fruit for their Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon exactly when they wanted – with no fear of over-ripening the fruit. This wine is a blend of three of Washington State’s premier vineyards coming off two appellations. This blend of sites allows Ross Andrew Winery to tame the blazing heat of Red Mountain (Klipsun and Ciel du Cheval Vineyards) with the more even temperatures seen from the Horse Heaven Hills (Alder Ridge Vineyard).

“The path the grapes follow from vineyard to bottle is critical. Start with great grower partnerships for the best possible fruit, and in the winery treat the grapes with the attention and respect they deserve from the moment they arrive. Attend to each and every barrel. Toss in a little magic. That’s it.”
