The Nose Remains The Same
And it’s true, sure. But who among us can say they never once wrote crazy band names on their calculus notebook? Or drew a horrible superhero comic on some lazy elementary school Saturday? That’s right, none. Or all. We kinda didn’t pay attention in our sentence structure class because we were coming up with band names. Like “Electofragadocious” was our Prince cover band. Pretty sweet, right?
Okay, fine, you don’t care about our stupid band ideas. Great. Whatever. We’ll get back to talking about this Red Zeppelin Winery Black Zeppelin 2 Pack. Although certainly we all want to hear goth covers of “Ramble On”, Black Zeppelin is a Petite Sirah, made from grapes grown in the rockin’ Hames Valley and Paso Robles as well. It’s a 2009 vintage, and it mixes the dark fruit flavor of blueberry and plum with pepper and spices, oak and cedar, and a lovely long finish. Certainly much better than a mashup of “Stairway to Heaven” and “Bela Lugosi’s Dead”. Yeah, it sounds good on paper, but then you try beatmatching and it all falls apart.
Anyway, if you want wine that you have to struggle to understand, maybe look for a Mahavishnu Pinotchestra. But if you want a good wine that’s easy to follow, you want a Red Zeppelin Black Zeppelin 2 Pack. We just wish they had a cool logo we could carve into our desks.

The Hames Valley is normally one of the warmer sub-appellations of Monterey; however the 2009 vintage was cooler, enabling the fruit to keep more of its blackberry and plum flavors. The Brady wine added structure and a different type of oak flavor; the finished wine shows dark fruit, pepper and spices, and a variety of oak and cedar flavors that contribute to the structure and long finish.

Red Zeppelin Winery is a small producer of premium and super premium wines, based in Paso Robles and Cayucos, California. Founded in 2003 by owners Dave Andrews, Stillman Brown and Joe Kraman, we own and have trademarked the Red Zeppelin names and brands developed by winemaker Stillman Brown at Jory Winery starting in 1991. There are no tasting or facility tours available; however we do hold events including winemaker dinners and truly outrageous parties. Red Zeppelin’s development plans include the acquisition of a vineyard and tasting room in northern San Luis Obispo County. Our concentration on low-yielding super-premium cool-climate varietals such as our Syrah and our upcoming Pinot Noir means that we will remain a small, exclusive winery, emphasizing wines of the highest quality and most distinctive personality.
