Be aware that anything in your cart from the other Woot sites is still out there and looking forward to your return. We'd hate for anything to sell out while you're reading this.

Don't Fight It

The fate of this wine is in your hands.

Thanks for coming, Pinot Noir. Please have a seat. I have something to tell you and, well, it might be a little hard to digest.

Last night, I had a premonition. It was about you. There I was, nose to the forest floor when it came to me. I saw hints of earth and oak aromas. Dark fruits like plum, and raspberry jam washed over my palette and finished with a juicy acidity. It was so real I could almost taste it.

That's when I knew. I'm sorry to be the one to tell you this, Pinot Noir. But you're not going to make it past dinner tonight. I know. It's not fair. You've been barreled for 20 months in French oak, and now this.

My advice for you is to enjoy what time you have left. And when you see that cork screw coming at you, don't fight it. Shhhh. Don't fight it.

2010 Pinot Noir, Russian River Valley 750ml 3-Pack

This wine showcases concentrated flavors of plum, cranberry and black cherry with hints of earth, forest floor and oak aromas on the nose. Dark fruits, plum, raspberry jam and spicy oak coat the palette, finishing with juicy acidity. This cool year helped retain its natural acidity, and the heat spikes closer to harvest developed dark berry fruit flavors on the nose and palette. This wine has been barreled for 20 months in French oak, and has warm toasty aromas weaved throughout.

Growing Season 2010:
The 2010 vintage produced wines with concentrated aromas, rich fruit flavors, nicely balanced acidity and supple tannin structure. The most noteworthy of the 2010 vintage is one of extremes; between cool, early season temperatures and extreme late season heat.  Above average rainfall in the winter months ended the streak of several average water years and ensured ample soil moisture for early season growth. Bud break initiated in late March and was somewhat delayed due to cool, rainy weather.
Summer brought unseasonably cold daytime temperatures with the morning marine layer that didn’t clear up until 1-2pm each day. The brief sunny days were followed by cool evenings, which gave the grapes great flavor and color development while preserving their natural acidity.
In August, an unprecedented heat spike saw temperatures reach as high as 115F, causing heat damage to several vineyards. Many people pull leaves during the cool summer to try ripening fruit. Those who did had tremendous loss in crop yields. Some vineyards, depending on their location, weathered the heat spike and produced concentrated, high-quality fruit.

At Premonition Cellars, we are dedicated and committed to producing outstanding quality wine. This limited production of Pinot Noir was a personal project of the winemaker, from the farming of the small acre and a half vineyard himself, all the way to the bottle. This unfiltered wine shows elegance and balance, with bright cherry, strawberry, and a floral bouquet on the nose with hints of earthy overtones, followed by juicy acidity and a soft, lingering finish. Our wines are great for paring with food, or just hanging out with good friends!
