That's right! The complete winemaker's dozen.

Look, we're not in the bagel biz. What are ya gonna do?

Like bakers, we also want to be in the business of selling items in packs of twelve, but whenever we try to sell a dozen of something, everyone always asks, "Where's the thirteenth!? When I got my bagels this morning, there were thirteen, so where's my thirteenth bottle of wine?"

We could hang our heads in shame, but in reality, it's not our fault. We can't compete with the lavish lifestyle of the baker, rolling up in a flashy sports car, pumping pastries full of jam day in and day out.

So when you buy this case of Pedroncelli Mixed Red Wine, realize that we really would like to give you another bottle of wine, but the problem is, we're not bakers. We're just innocent wine sellers. What can we say?

Features

2011 Pedroncelli Mother Clone Zinfandel, Sonoma County, Dry Creek Valley 750ml 3-Pack

Our Mother Clone is a classic Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel. Aromas of raspberry and allspice lead to Bing cherry and strawberry flavors framed by subtle black pepper spice. Well integrated flavors with well balanced acidity and warm toasty oak are a hallmark of our style. Enjoy now or cellar for three to five years.

Mother Clone Vineyard Sources: Pedroncelli’s historic Zinfandel vineyards are located on the hillsides surrounding the winery, on the ranch originally purchased by John Pedroncelli Sr. in 1927 and planted to Zinfandel since 1904. Our Zinfandel vines are head-pruned and hand picked, a second generation vineyard cloned from the original “Mother” vines of which one quarter of an acre exist today. Although a small part of the blend, the fruit from these 100-year-old vines is included. Along with the grapes from our estate vineyards, it has been a tradition to include two other old vine and heritage vineyards comprising a third of the blend.

2011 Pedroncelli Cabernet Sauvignon, Three Vineyards, Sonoma County, Dry Creek Valley 750ml 3-Pack

Beautiful, delicate aromas of currant, lavender and cocoa highlight our Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine is framed by bright acidity, in just the right amount to showcase the fruit, and is from a lighter vintage showing medium tannins. The flavors feature red plum with caramel and licorice highlights followed by a lasting finish. Enjoy upon release or cellar up to five more years.

Three Vineyard Blend: Estate fruit harvested from the northern reaches of Dry Creek Valley. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petite Verdot were hand picked just a mile from the winery. Here these varietals develop exceptional character on the vineyard sites situated on the valley bench. The vines receive the right amount of sun and cooling fog which develops optimal flavors in the grapes. Careful vineyard management during the growing season defines our style even more.

2011 Pedroncelli Sangiovese, Alto Vineyards, Sonoma County, Dry Creek Valley 750ml 3-Pack

Ripe berry and plum along with a hint of warm spice highlight the aromas of our Sangiovese. The taste is full flavored, soft, and balanced and is bursting with cherry, berry, and spice highlights. Medium-bodied, this wine is framed by fruit, well-integrated tannins and a lasting finish.

Vineyard Sources: In honor of our Italian heritage we planted this classic Italian varietal, known as the backbone grape of Chianti, 20 years ago seeking to add some unique wines to our line. We named the three separate sites, which are located on our home ranch, “Alto Vineyards” for the steep hillsides where the vineyards thrive. In the last few vintages, the maturity of the vines as well as the quality of the fruit from these hilltop sections is at their peak.

2011 Pedroncelli Merlot, Bench Vineyards, Sonoma County, Dry Creek Valley 750ml 3-Pack

A bouquet of ripe black cherry, warm spice and rich plum. Bright flavors of cherry, black currant, and black tea notes highlight the taste. The subtle toasty oak complements the rich fruitiness in the mouth. Lush, full-bodied and almost velvety on the palate, medium tannins frame a long and lasting finish.

Bench Vineyards: The source for our Bench Vineyards Merlot comes from selected blocks off of our vineyard located along Dry Creek Road as well as two other growers a short distance from ours. Bench Vineyards, the name chosen for this wine, describes the natural terraces that flank Dry Creek Valley and rise gradually into the steep hills. Characterized by sloped topography and gravelly/rocky residual soils, the unique growing conditions combine to bring out the best in our Merlot.

2011 Pedroncelli Mother Clone Zinfandel, Sonoma County, Dry Creek Valley 750ml 3-Pack

Winemaking: The third cool growing season in a row for our vineyards included a lower yield and delayed ripening. We harvested the grapes over the last week of September, before the rain. The resulting fruit retained well developed flavor, outstanding balance and deep quality of fruit. During fermentation in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks, the cellar crew performed daily pumpovers—extracting color and flavor from the skins. The wine was aged in American oak barrels for 12 months. A touch of Petite Sirah (10%) adds layers of color, structure, and tannin to our Zinfandel.

  • Appellation: Dry Creek Valley
  • Aging: 12 months in American Oak
  • Alcohol: 14.8%
  • pH: 3.62
  • Total Acidity: .615g/100mg

2011 Pedroncelli Cabernet Sauvignon, Three Vineyards, Sonoma County, Dry Creek Valley 750ml 3-Pack

Winemaking: The grapes were harvested over the second week of October, coming from a cool growing season where we saw lower yields and grapes with good acidity, concentrated aromas and flavors. The fruit was crushed into temperature controlled stainless steel tanks. The frequent pumping of juice over the cap during fermentation gives the young wine a substantial increase of flavor, tannin and color.

Our Cabernet Sauvignon was aged in 70% American Oak barrels for eleven months in order to develop smoothness and complexity. An additional 30% was aged in new French Oak to provide a subtle backbone of toasty oak. Blending in Cabernet Franc and a small portion of Petite Verdot adds depth and the integrated flavors show optimum richness and balance.

  • Appellation: Dry Creek Valley
  • Barrel Aging: 11 months in American Oak and French Oak barrels
  • Alcohol: 13.7%
  • pH: 3.56
  • Total Acidity: .555g/100mg

2011 Pedroncelli Sangiovese, Alto Vineyards, Sonoma County, Dry Creek Valley 750ml 3-Pack

Winemaking: The 2011 vintage included a wet spring which led to low yields and a cool growing season. This weather allowed slow ripening which led to enhanced flavors, bright acidity and soft, well-integrated tannins. The vineyard blocks were hand-picked the final week of September. The fruit from the three sections was crushed together creating a site-blend and transferred to stainless steel tanks where the juice was cold fermented for 10 days. The cap was pumped over periodically to enhance the color, flavor and intensity in the wine. The wine was aged in neutral American oak barrels for eleven months and developed additional smoothness and complexity through this process. We age the wine in seasoned barrels so that there is less astringency which is associated with this grape and in turn will not overpower the balance in the finished wine.

  • Appellation:  Dry Creek Valley, Estate Vineyards
  • Barrel Aging: 11 months in American Oak barrels
  • Alcohol: 13.9%
  • pH: 3.36
  • Total Acidity: .705g/100mg

2011 Pedroncelli Merlot, Bench Vineyards, Sonoma County, Dry Creek Valley 750ml 3-Pack

Winemaking: Grapes were harvested the last week of September. After a long cool growing season, the fruit showed intense color and the right amount of natural acidity from ripening slowly over the course of the summer. The grapes were crushed into temperature controlled stainless steel tanks. Daily pumpovers during the fermentation gives a substantial increase in flavor and color. The young wine was transferred to small American oak barrels to age for 12 months (with 30% new oak) in order to develop smoothness and complexity giving it a subtle backbone of oak components.

  • Appellation: Dry Creek Valley
  • Barrel Aging: 12 months in American Oak barrels
  • Alcohol: 14.2%
  • pH: 3.57
  • Total Acidity: .580g/100mg
