Wine.Woot purchases now bypass your cart entirely! This means you gotta buy Wine.Woot items on their own, using your Amazon Payments account. You can't mix 'em up with stuff from our other sites. This cowboy's ridin' solo.

Be aware that anything in your cart from the other Woot sites is still out there and looking forward to your return. We'd hate for anything to sell out while you're reading this.

You missed it! But Today's Woot is waiting!

Fair Questions

DID YOU KNOW: Did you know that "ranch" doesn't rhyme with "blanc" unless you an a "he" to the end? See? Laughter really DOES change the world!

Maybe we're over-thinking it, though. Maybe in the Martian language, "Blanc" and "Grenache" and "Ranch" all sound the same. You know, like when Jay Z takes a word like "dishwasher" and makes it somehow rhyme with "Senator" through pronunciation magic.

What we probably should be focusing on is how this Grenache Blanc 4-Pack tastes crisp and light, with a delicious fruity taste and a gentle acidity that really pleases the palate. But that's not what we do, is it? We take one tiny, unimportant bit of minutia and just RIDE that puppy until we wring every single possible outcome from it.

Which is why we'd like to ask you, seriously: do you think the word Martian sounds like the word ranch in Martian? Like the word French in French is "fran-say" which sorta sounds like "ranchy" if you're really trying. Because if so, maybe "Martian Ranch Grenache Blanc" is really a poorly translated alien tongue twister, right?

Does anyone have Noam Chomsky's number? Surely he could help us figure this out.

2009 Grenache Blanc 750ml 4-Pack

The grape genealogy experts (ampelographers, for the pedants in the crowd) believe that Grenache Blanc was a freak of nature, a mutant version of Grenache Noir. There is beauty in the unexpected, as evidenced by this wine.

Grenache Blanc is rarely bottled by itself, but is terrific when blended with even small amounts of other wines. For this vintage, Martian Ranch added some Viognier, resulting in a wine that comprised of 85% Grenache Blanc from the Estelle Vineyard and 15% Viognier grown at Camp 4. After fermentation, the wine was aged in a combination of French oak barrels (to give it added silkiness and flavor) and stainless steel tanks (for crisp freshness). The Grenache Blanc component adds acidity and structure to the wine, while the Viognier adds fruit on the palate and a tangible voluptuousness. It’s the best of all worlds. This wine is redolent of peaches and green apples with a hint of orange blossom, followed by more of the same on the palate, with some dried apricot on the long, lingering finish.

Martian Ranch & Vineyard

Nan Helgeland
Los Alamos, CA
Martian Ranch & Vineyard is the creation of its proprietor Nan Helgeland. Despite rumors to the contrary, Martian is the blending of the names of her sons Martin and Ian. The Martian seen occasionally on the premises is as much a mystery to her as it is to anyone else.
MARTIAN is...An eclectic grower of grape varietals both esoteric and otherwise.  Martian Ranch is a young, biodynamically-farmed vineyard on Alisos Canyon Road, Los Alamos where we take our farming much more seriously than we take ourselves.  The results?  Wine well worth drinking.
