Wine. It’s what’s for breakfast.

You know what would pair nicely with this omelette? An early-2000s vintage.

“I think I’m going to have a glass of wine.”

Dude. It’s like 6:30 in the morning.

“Yeah, so? Who says you can’t have wine with breakfast.”

Um. Pretty much every social convention. And your mom.

“Please. Have you seen how many mimosas that woman can put away?”

Yeah, but at least there’s orange juice in them. They’re breakfast-y.

“Well so is this Lang Amador County Barbera. Check out the label on the 2006. It has aromas of vanilla, raspberry, cranberry and bacon.”

I really don’t see your point. Wine is just not something you … wait. Did you say bacon?

“That’s what the label says. Oh, and listen to this. All these flavors combined lead to a palate of blueberry jam, cocoa and toast with a juicy, even zippy finish.”

Bacon. Toast. Jam. I guess that does sound pretty breakfast-y. I’m sold. Pour me a glass.

“And campfire.”

Wait, what? What do you mean, campfire?

“It says it tastes like campfire.”

That sounds painful. I’m out.

“I think it probably just means there’s some smoky undertones to it.”

I dunno …

“Come on! Breakfast by the campfire? That sounds amazing.”

You know, why not? I’m the adventurous type. IN.

“That’s the spirit.”

This wine is deep ruby-red, rich, smooth, well-structured and fruit-filled with an earthy undertone. Aromas are of vanilla, cherry cola and ripe fruit leading to flavors of blackberry with a hint of citrus and cinnamon. Silky tannins provide structure and a bright toasty finish. It is stressful to wait at harvest-time, but consistent award-winning Barberas are the reward for that attention and patience.

Lang Wines

Founded:
1985
Owners:
Bob and Marsha Lang
Location:
Amador County, CA
Bob and Marsha Lang produce Zinfandel, Syrah, Barbera and Sauvignon Blanc from personally selected family-owned Sierra Foothill vineyards in Amador County.  Known for deep, granite-based soils, California's oldest Zinfandel vines are grown here in these picturesque gold-country valleys.

Amador's vineyards lie at elevations above 1200 feet   Production now tops 1800 cases each year; the Lang’s intend to continue their twenty-six year history of producing small quantities of Amador Zinfandel, Syrah and Barbera from the best vineyards in California’s finest Zinfandel region. Winemaker Mark McKenna and the Lang’s visit these select vineyards often from winter pruning to bud-break in the spring and especially to determine the exact day to harvest in the fall.

The consistent quality of Lang Wines results from a continuing cultivated harmony of cooperation between small, but exceptional wine-growers in Amador County and the Sierra-foothills and our winemaker, Mark McKenna. Enjoy!
