Just The Two of Us
I mean, it was just me and a bottle of 2010 Esoterica Sauvignon Blanc out there in the lifeboat after the shipwreck, right? Well, we’d been out here on the water for a few days, and my lips were starting to get so dry that they hurt, so I looked at the bottle and I said, “Hey, one of us is going to have to sacrifice himself for the greater good. One of us is going to have to get drank.”
It felt so good to finally say it. I mean, I’d been thinking about it every waking hour since we boarded that lifeboat together. I’d been imagining that austere, flinty and crisp wine on my lips. I so desired to taste the explosion of all the good things that Sauvignon Blanc can be without that pesky “winemaker interference.” I wanted it so bad. But then, when we drew straws, sure enough, mine was dwarfed by the bottle’s.
Well, I wasn’t going out like that. Not a chance. That bottle wasn’t going to have a glass of me. So what did I do? I jumped overboard and I swam and swam until I got to shore. Then I got a room at the hotel in town, washed up, looked through the employment section of the newspaper, and came here.
So, anyway, long story short: yes, I am very willing to travel, Mr. Job Interviewer.

Kent Rasmussen Winery
- Founded:
- 1986
- Owners:
- Kent Rasmussen
- Location:
- St. Helena, CA
Since its modest beginnings, the Kent Rasmussen Winery has evolved into one of the most important producers in the Napa region. The winery outgrew its tractor shed barrel room on Cuttings Wharf Road in the Napa Carneros long ago. In 1995, Kent and Celia established a new winemaking facility in a turn of the century slaughterhouse, on the Silverado Trail in St. Helena. Refined over the years, it now houses business offices, an enology lab and lab tasting room, a wine library and upgraded production equipment. The modern crusher, press, tanks, catwalks, refrigeration systems, pumps, forklift and fruit sorter have greatly enhanced winemaking options. Grapes are either estate grown or under long term contract with reliable growers.
