Wine.Woot purchases now bypass your cart entirely! This means you gotta buy Wine.Woot items on their own, using your Amazon Payments account. You can't mix 'em up with stuff from our other sites. This cowboy's ridin' solo.

Be aware that anything in your cart from the other Woot sites is still out there and looking forward to your return. We'd hate for anything to sell out while you're reading this.

You missed it! But Today's Woot is waiting!

Depends On How You Look At It

So, are you a glass half full or a bottle half the size type of guy?

I'll be the first to admit that I'm not the world's biggest optimist. I'm more of what you'd call a realist. Okay, fine. I'm a pessimist. So when I first laid eyes on these teensy weensy bottles of Hendry Vineyard Napa Valley Cabernet I thought, "I have had like THE worst day at work and knowing my luck I'm going to get hit by a bus tomorrow and it'll all be over for me and THIS is the best you can do, universe? HALF a bottle of wine? On my LAST DAY ON EARTH?!" Thanks. Thanks a lot.

But you know, then I got to thinking. And I thought, "Hey, if this is really going to be my last day on Earth, I should be grateful that the gods have bestowed upon me any amount of plummy, deep, dark fruit aromas and flavors of berry/currant and cocoa, be it plentiful or not. Seriously. If the last thing I have to drink before I head off to that big vineyard in the sky is a wine with well-integrated oak and structured, fine-grained tannins, I'd say I'm a pretty lucky guy.

So from now on, whenever I crack open one of these bottles and pour it out, I'm going to look at it as the perfect amount to make my glass half full. Granted, a glass all the way full would be better, but who's counting?

2007 Hendry Vineyard Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 375ml 3-Pack

The majority of the grapes for this wine (54%) still come from Block 8, one of Hendry's oldest and most consistently distinctive blocks. Pretty, dark and supple. Initial aromas are dusty and almost floral, with enticing sweet fruit. An exceptionally balanced wine, showing plummy, deep, dark fruit aromas and flavors of berry/currant and cocoa. Well-integrated oak and firm, fine-grained tannins. Delicious and approachable now, with potential for cellaring.

2006 Hendry Vineyard Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 375ml 3-Pack
Silky entry, surprisingly rich upon first opening, though patience is rewarded. Textbook Cabernet aromas of berry/currant, cocoa, mint, eucalyptus and cedary oak reveal themselves with time and air.  Structured, fine-grained tannins make this wine a fine match for a rib-eye steak or other rich food.

Winery Details

The Hendry Family
Napa, CA
Hendry is a small estate winery located in the south-western Napa valley. Our 117 acres of vineyard lie on gently sloping terrain between 160 and 290 feet in elevation. Thin stony soils and a moderate climate allow the production of a wide range of varietals.  Most of this property has belonged to the Hendry family since 1939.
At Hendry, we stress the importance of the vineyard, and we devote, much of our time to understanding its variation on small scales. Combinations of soil, climate, varietal and clone are critical, and for this reason, we have divided our vineyard into 50 different blocks, each managed separately. To us, every block is a learning experience that teaches us about interactions among these variables, and how they influence fruit composition and wine quality. Small changes in any of them can have dramatic effects on the wine.  There has been vineyard on this property for more than 140 years, and we have been farming here for nearly half that time.  As our knowledge grows, our vineyard blocks evolve, we get closer to understanding the full potential of our vineyard.
