Dare to Drink

That was our attempt at a clever play on words. Instead of "Dare to Dream" we went with "Dare to Drink." But it just sounds like we're pressuring you to imbibe. Which we would never do, obviously. That would be irresponsible. We might be pressuring you to buy, however, and we're cool with that. All's fair in Woot-Offs and war, we always say. Or for the first time. And last. Sorry.

Features

2011 Geyser Peak River Ranches Sauvignon Blanc 750ml 12-Pack

A pure expression of ripe, cool-climate Sauvignon Blanc, our 2011 River Ranches offers beautiful purity of fruit, textured mineral notes, and our trademark hint of freshly mown lawn. Crisp, refreshing, and elegant, the wine opens with aromas of lemongrass and lychee and leads to a palate alive with passion fruit, peach, lemon zest and quince. Background notes of honeydew melon and gooseberry fruit balance the vivid acidity and herbal flourishes suggestive of sweet peas and cilantro add depth and complexity. The finesse and perfume of this distinctive variety are optimized when grown in the cool Russian River Valley. Enjoy with sushi, shellfish, and fresh crab.

Winemaker Notes: 2011 was a late season with acids remaining high well into the month of September. A brief heat wave helped move things along and our blocks were harvested between September 20th and September 30th. Each parcel and clone was fermented separately to maximize varietal character. Yeast strains selected for their ability to enhance the aromatics and mouthfeel were employed and the wines were cold fermented over a period of two weeks. The wine was 100% stainless steel fermented, no oak was used in the production of this wine.

Rolling hills, river beds and proximity to the Pacific give the Russian River Valley an amazing variety of microclimates. Each year there are particular vineyard blocks that produce fruit of exceptional concentration, fruit that captures the quintessential varietal essence of Sauvignon Blanc. We celebrate this intensity with our Block Collection bottling – a selection of our favorite blocks chosen through extensive viticultural work, tasting, and trial blending.

Geyser Peak Winery

Owner:
Accolade Wines
Founded:
1880
Location:
Geyersville, CA

One of California’s oldest and most award-winning wineries, Geyser Peak was founded in 1880, a pioneer of the Alexander Valley in Sonoma County. Perched on a hillside across from Geyser Peak Mountain, this beautiful setting overlooks Geyserville, the Russian River and the northern end of Alexander Valley.

A long heritage of winemaking with a relatively recent resurgence, Geyser Peak Winery's roots in Sonoma County winemaking run deep. Founded by Augustus Quitzow, one of Sonoma County's pioneer winemakers, the original winery was built in Geyserville in 1882. Perched on a hillside across from Geyser Peak Mountain, the winery claimed a view of the clouds of thermal steam that billowed from the mountain's summit.

Today, Geyser Peak is one of the most award-winning wineries in Sonoma County.  It consistently garners some of the most prestigious awards in winemaking, including Winery of the Year and Winemaker of the Year honors. Its outstanding team of winemakers and viticulturalists are noted for fruit-forward, food-friendly wines from prime vineyard sources in the Alexander Valley.
