Wine For All

You don't have to be Bono to drink this Charbono!

Don't worry. Seriously, it's okay. We know what you're thinking: "I REALLY want to buy and drink this 2010 Fable Charbono ... but I'm not Bono!"

Again, though: you don't have to be Bono. We don't want you to miss out on the blueberry, leather, and cinnamon on the nose just because your name's Joe or Agnes. You can still have some of this wine!

You can enjoy every mineral that's reminiscent of the lava in the vineyard ... even if you're not Bono!

You can savor its firm acidity, soft tannins, and long finish ... even if you're not Bono!

In fact, there are a lot of things you can do with this wine even if you're not Bono. It's amazing, really!

Oh, and if you ARE Bono ... wait, really? THE Bono is reading this write-up? I, well, I, wow, I've gotta sit down. I'm sorry, I'm just, I can't believe, with all of his music and, y'know, stuff he does, that he'd have time to read a simple little write-up like this one. I'm just so--oh, right. Yes, if you ARE Bono, you can drink this wine too.

Features

2010 Fable Charbono, Napa Valley 750ml 3-Pack

The first thing you notice is this Charbono’s deep, inky black red in the glass. The nose is classic blueberry, leather, and cinnamon. The blueberry notes persist on the palate, combined with complex mineral notes reminiscent of the lava from the vineyard. This Charbono invites you in and surprises you with its firm acidity, supple, soft tannins and a long finish. Very age worthy.

Vineyard: Don Meyer planted this vineyard with his father when he was a young man. He remembers going to Inglenook to buy budwood to graft onto the new rootstock. Meyers Vineyard has a lot of history, between the owners and the soil itself-- you can hardly refer to it as such-- it’s a relic of eons of volcanic activity. The ground crunches underfoot as gnarled vines obstinately grow in a field of fist-sized lava rocks. From a winemaker’s perspective, it’s an amazing site to grow wine grapes. Yield: 2.4 tons/acre.

Vintage: 2010 was overall a fairly cool growing season but was punctuated by two powerful heat waves in July and August. This shriveled a lot of fruit to the detriment of the growers. The silver lining, however, was that this lighter crop reached a level of fruit maturity not attainable in other vintages.
