Be aware that anything in your cart from the other Woot sites is still out there and looking forward to your return. We'd hate for anything to sell out while you're reading this.

You missed it! But Today's Woot is waiting!

This Domaine Degher Red has been a medal winner three years in a row. I'm pretty sure he's blending.

Seriously. Did you see him in 2006? Muscular. Intense. Age worthy. You just don't get that way without blending. It's unnatural. If I had to guess, I'd say 51% Syrah, 49% Cabernet. Three years in the bottle. Bam. You've got a winner.

Why didn't anyone come forward before now? Probably because in 2007, he married Cabernet, Syrah and Grenache Noir. They had a deep and passionate embrace. And despite having classic backbone and being very fruit forward, you cannot be compelled to testify against a spouse. So it just kept going on.

And then in 2008, things got really intense. Yeah. We're talking chords of lush fruit and soft tannins. Totally out of control. It was a Bordeaux meets Rhone meets Cabernet meets Syrah blend unlike anyone had ever seen. No one was looking for it. That's how it was able to achieve such an elegant, sustained finish.

Say what you want about it, but despite the controversy, I still think it's the greatest wine of all time. I mean, just think about all the great things it's done for pork roast, steak, venison and duck. That's just not something you can dismiss so easily.

Domaine Degher

Denis Degher
Paso Robles, CA
Denis Degher enjoyed a long career in the music industry, working for many years as a recording artist, producer, and sound engineer in the Los Angeles area. As the owner of Red Zone studios, Denis had the opportunity to work with some rather big names in the musical world. Artists of note included Santana, Kenny G., and Earth, Wind, and Fire.  Having maintained an enthusiasm for wine during his time in the music business, Denis relocated to Paso Robles in 2003. He purchased his first small batch of grapes from local growers during the 2004 vintage. With the help of supportive local vintners, the first batch of Domaine Degher wine was made... in just enough quantity to please a  few friends. 2005 marked the first commercial vintage for Denis’s wine, and has been growing in quality and notoriety ever since. All of his bottlings are adorned with a label featuring his trademark Cherry guitar. After all, it’s important to acknowledge one’s roots...
Denis has committed himself to sustainable viticultural practices. His vineyard is approximately four acres in size, located on the Northwest portion of the Paso Robles AVA. The vineyard contains roughly 2,500 head-trained plants. The varieties grown are Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Domaine Degher sits atop a small registered organic vineyard in the rolling hills of the northwest side of the Paso Robles AVA on California’s Central Coast.  The head-pruned vineyard is sited on a south facing slope allowing even east/west sun exposure throughout the growing season.  However, the coup de grace is the calcarious limestone soils.  These chalky soils are similar to the famed soils of France and create wines of structure and supple tannins.
Owner/winemaker Denis Degher’s lifelong love affair with music orchestrates his wine making philosophy.  “Making wine is like making love or making music… very improvisational.  You start with a vision and harness the mysteries of nature.  Then with each ever-changing vintage, you strive to shape this raw life force into a wine of natural grace, power and beauty while keeping your mind’s eye on your creative vision mind.”
