This lovely three-pack has a core as rich as the words which first made me appreciate literature, Ut enim ad minim veniam, quis nostrud exercitation ullamco laboris nisi ut aliquip ex ea commodo consequat. Really gets your heart beating, doesn't it? The sort of words that make you hungry for steak and barbeque or a sharp, well-aged cheddar!

2008 Diamond Ridge Vineyards Aspects 750ml 3-Pack
As California’s largest Cabernet Sauvignon clonal library, The challenge for our flagship blend was to make an eloquent statement of place, a blend which captures the unique attributes and displays all the aspects of this special site. The core of the blend was equal proportions of three Cabernet Sauvignon clones. Clone 4 is the most feminine and shows a sweet core of strawberry fruit. Clone 8 possesses a refined mid-palate weight and black cherry flavors. Clone 337 has the most tannic structure and adds cassis and plum characteristic of Pauillac.
These three clones were picked on October 9th and co-fermented, comprising 43% of the blend. To this was added 12% Merlot, which contributes a bright Bing cherry aroma and fat, fleshy tannins, as well as 31% Cabernet Franc with its spicy grenadine and rosemary aromas, firm, angular tannins and strong minerality. An 14% addition of Petite Sirah filled out the blend’s structure and contributed notes of blueberry and lavender. This blend was allowed to marry in neutral oak for three years, resulting in a wine of great poise, complexity and nuance which is ready for current drinking but also promises to improve with up to a decade of cellaring.
Aspects is not a muscle wine. We have chosen to keep in balance the oak and alcohol components to allow the wine to reveal a whole spectrum of aroma and flavor components unique to our terroir. The wine shimmers on the palate like a fine diamond, its complex elements intertwining in a dynamic balance that captivates the senses with its grace and sheer elegance. Serve it with veal, wild mushrooms or exotic cheeses, and don’t forget to light the candles!

Our ace in the hole is that our site allows us to grow fruit of comparable and sometimes superior attributes compared to our downhill neighbor Napa County, at a fraction of the cost of land, the principle driver of grape price.
