2007 Sonoma Valley Zinfandel Puccini Vineyard 750ml
Flavors of ripe red fruits and sweet herbs with a touch of cinnamon spice—the layers of flavor, and graceful structure make this a wonderful example of old vine zin. Pairs well with a simple roast chicken flavored with rosemary and garlic. For dessert splash over cut strawberries with a ½ tsp of sugar and a grating of black pepper.
2008 Sonoma Valley Zinfandel, Puccini Vineyard 750ml
Due to a tiny crop this wine shows the classic character of a late harvest Zin: jammy fruit, complex spice yet a degree of balance surprising to those unfamiliar with the style. Bright and loaded with red fruit, this wine starts with cherry, sweet cranberry, young strawberry and cassis. Sweet herbs, sweetwoods, bramble, blueberry and plum skin round out the lush flavors. Not for every day, but a great wine to finish a meal, or to match a spicy sausage casserole. The favors also pairs well with 'hearty peasant dishes' such as chick pea stew with rosmary and garlic, or, more richly braised boar.
2009 Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel 750ml
The 2009 Dry Creek Zin opens with aromas of ripe red and black fruits, tobacco, cocoa and caramel; full-bodied and well textured in the mouth, this fine wine presents a pleasing array of fruit and herb flavors that complete in a well-rounded, toasty finish. This wine pairs well with anything from the grill, rich pasta sauces, or with a simple roast chicken flavored with rosemary and garlic.
