These wines are fantastic, but unfortunately we can’t deliver them to all states. Some people assume this is because of teetotaling politicians and their puritanical laws, but that’s not always the case. If your state’s not on the “approved” list, here’s why:
Alabama - They don’t have a problem with the wine, per se, they just want to keep it apart from the beer.
Alaska - The wine would freeze.
Arkansas - Residents have never heard of wine.
Delaware - Not a real state.
Hawaii - Wine shipments blocked by all-powerful cocktail umbrella lobby.
Indiana - Blocked by governor Mike Pence, whose great grandfather was killed by a vineyard owner.
Kentucky - Wine does not pair well with fried chicken.
Massachusetts - Orders cannot be processed due to inability to comprehend customers.
Mississippi - Too difficult to ford the giant river.
Montana - Too difficult to cross the mountains
New Hampshire - Probably not a real state.
Oklahoma - Ugh, Oklahomans. Ugh.
Pennsylvania - Blocked by powerful cheesesteak lobby.
Rhode Island - Wine wouldn’t fit in the state.
South Dakota - Shipments would be stolen by North Dakotans.
Utah - Wine shipments blocked by Mormons.
Virginia - Wine shipments blocked by Lovers.

This wine is smoky and lush with powerful dark fruit flavors and herbs, with a firm backbone. Ready to go now or age it for another 5-10 years.
2006 Ground Around Red Blend 750ml
Great fruit, tannin and balanced like all of the Core blends. Still a young wine that will age another 10-15 years. This wine will pair with almost anything you put on the plate. This wine is just starting to come into its own like the rest of the Core 2006's.

This is a special barrel selection from Core's best selling Grenache. Mainly 2 clones were selected for this wine. 100% barrel selected Grenache from the most amazing vineyard in Santa Barbara County. Long submerged fermentation and 15% whole cluster selected. The wine was aged 35 months in 600 and 800 liter barrels and bottled without fining or filtration.

The core of every wine begins in the vineyard.
Dave Corey’s educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in Biology from San Jose State University and a master’s degree in Entomology and Plant Physiology from Kansas State University, which was completed in 1995. Prior to entering the wine industry in 1996, Dave worked in Salinas and the Central Valley in agricultural fields including cotton, almonds, citrus, walnuts, kiwi, table grapes, apples and stone fruit. His first position in the wine industry was as a Pest Control Advisor with Cambria Winery and Vineyards and later at Kendall-Jackson Vineyards of Santa Barbara County.
Dave left Kendall Jackson Vineyards in 1999 to begin Vital Vines, a viticultural company providing technical support for vineyard property owners, vineyard managers and winemaking personnel in the promotion of sustainable agriculture. He has worked with clients that include Laetitia, Barnwood, Beckman, Melville, Stolpman, Gainey, Zaca Mesa, Sea Smoke, Le Bon Climat, Sine Qua Non, Rideau, Carhartt, Rusack, Westerly, Fiddlestix, Vogelzang, Andrew Murray, Evergreen, Arita Hills and Royal Oaks.
With a major commitment and a second mortgage, Dave gradually decreased his vineyard consulting work to focus on vineyard sourcing, winemaking duties and winery direct sales for CORE wine company which he started in 2001 with his wife, Becky. Dave passionately continues working in the same capacity today in addition to several new wine projects with family members. He can also be found pouring wine for customers at the CORE wine company tasting room in Old Orcutt, California.
