Americuh The Purty
All right, fine. I'll give up on my mission to keep all foreign words out of our country. It was a dream, but a far-fetched dream. However, if I have to say foreign words, I'm going to say them in American. So "Cinque Gemma Red Cuvée" ain't gonna happen -- try "Kink Jemma Red Cuhvee."
Oh, it's a three-pack of California-style CHEEANTEE? Sounds as delicious as it does American. It contains several varietals, including SANGEEOVEESE, DOLEKETTO, and PET-IT SURRAH? What's not to like? It pairs well with pasta and pizza? Er, I mean PUSTAH and PISER?
The more I think about it, the more I realize that all sorts of foreign words have infiltrated our vocabulary. Quiche? No way: QUICK, or maybe just EGG PIE since that's what it really is. As a matter of fact, I'd call into question any word that has a Middle-French rather than Anglo-Saxon root.
I hold here a list of 900,000 words with potentially foreign etymologies...

After moving from California and taking several vacations back to the area, we again wondered how we could live in such a beautiful place and make our dream come true.
Chris spent his career working for big corporations and I've spent the last 25 years working with morning radio personalities across the country from wherever corporate America would move us at the time.
One evening Chris came home and said he was tired of the corporate life and moving around all the time. He wanted to love going to work everyday and when I asked what his passion was, he said he always dreamed of working at a winery. My first reaction was, "Hmm ... I bet there are a lot of people who'd love to work at a winery; but, if that's what you'd like to do, go get a job at a winery!" Much to my surprise, 5 months later, we were giving away our "stuff" and moving out to beautiful Healdsburg to live out our dream. Chris became the CFO of a family owned winery and then began his own winery consulting firm while I continued with my career in radio.
The opportunity to purchase Sapphire Hill came up in Fall of 2010 and we decided that our love of wine and the winery business was a passion that we both shared and something we could happily do for the rest of our lives.
