2013 Black Bear Red Chair Sauvignon Blanc
Some wines are too bold, some wines are not bold enough - here's one that's just right. After all, you're too old for porridge, right? Perfect for all types of seafood, sushi, grilled chicken, light pasta dishes, salads and picnic baskets. Oysters beware!
Aromas of lemongrass with hints of lime. The palate is bright, balanced with great acidity showcasing flavors of delicious green apples and a finish of lemon zest.
The color of this wine is brilliant with a pale straw hue. The aromas are fresh and reminiscent of fresh cut herbs, key lime, pineapple and lemon. The wine’s crisp acidity is as fresh as a spring day and the aromas carry over to similar flavors of fresh lime, green apple, and lemon. This wine could begin a meal with friends coupled with some Stilton cheddar cheese, or would lend itself to a dish of orange roughy in a beure blanc sauce, or bacon wrapped scallops or a bowl of linguini frutti del mare with clams, calamari, and shrimp.
This wine is made from a mixture of fruit in equal parts from Lodi and the Sierra Foothills, with each region contributing something unique to the blend. Each vineyard was picked at the peak of ripeness and crushed soon after to assure that the fruit characteristics are as fresh as possible. The crushed fruit was then allowed to sit, chilled and on the skins in the press to extract the fresh herb character that Sauvignon Blanc is known for. The juice was then extracted from the press and clarified into a stainless steel tank where the juice was continuously chilled throughout the fermentation process. Once complete, the wine was filtered and bottled to ensure the wine maintains the freshness of the fruit the day it was picked.
