This year’s limited bottling of Emergencier Holiday Provisions (EHP) is a unique and unconventional blend of red wine grapes not normally pulled together. Yet, the overall fruit forwardness and perfectly balanced acidity work incredibly well in this holiday libation. Each varietal component provides something special to the blend:

Cabernet Franc – Blueberry and Kirsch, with light oak and tannins
Petite Sirah – A Big Mouth Feel full of Silky Fruit Pie, Caramelized Sugar and Vanilla Crust
Syrah – Bold Dark Stone Fruit, Dried Herbs, and a hint of Black Pepper
Barbera – Wild Cherry and Crisp Acidity from this late ripening varietal
Sangiovese – Aromas of Pomegranate and Plum

This is a delightful wine to enjoy now, but will also easily age for an additional 5 years.

Attention to detail in the vineyards yields superior quality grapes from which Megan McGrath Gates crafts award winning wines. The vineyards of Lucas & Lewellen are located in the three principal wine grape growing regions of Santa Barbara County: the Santa Maria Valley, the Los Alamos Valley, and the Santa Ynez Valley. These valleys all run west from the coastal mountains to the Pacific Ocean, allowing warm days and cool nights to produce a long, gentle growing season.
