2012 The Auctor Red Blend, Paso Robles 750ml 6-Pack
This wine has a deeply concentrated, baked brick-red hue. Light aromas of rose petals and strawberry rhubarb pie ascend from a nose lead by warm baking spices and crushed clove. Once past the lips, stewed black cherry and sun ripened blackberry bramble flavors engulf the tongue while toasted oak flavors unite the fruit and spice to create a harmonious, balanced wine.
Appearance: Vast hues on an expansive terrain of ochres and earthy reds
Olefactory: Perfume. Crushed rose petal oil surrounding sweet spices.
Palate: Fresh strawberries, with a suggestion of oak. Dark cherry fruits linger across the taste buds.
From the Viticulturalist: It’s a good thing the Mayans were wrong! After two challenging vintages, leading some in the wine world to think the world may in fact be ending, 2012 is turning out to be one of the hallmark vintages of the millennium. A cool but dry spring created safe conditions for bud break in the vineyards. While the year started mild, late summer heat waves in both August and September kept cluster size small and concentrated flavors in the grapes. This in turn provided the late ripening varietals with just the kick they needed to produce those spicy notes for which Paso Robles wines are famous. The 2012 vintage will show its bold, intense flavors right away but will age beautifully in your bomb shelter for years to come. We survived the end of the world so we deserve this really good wine.
