2009 Pinot Blanc Santa Barbara County 750ml 3-Pack

A wine from the intense Santa Barbara sunshine, it's a white for those who love balanced aromatics and the richness and complexity rarely seen in other white varietals. Flowering with an expressive nose of peach, honeydew, and lemon cream pie notes, it’s one to drink over the next few years. Inside Fact: Pinot Blanc is a point mutation of Pinot Noir; almost genetically identical, except for the color. This wine is an excellent companion for your picnic of Swiss cheese and prosciutto or at the table with fresh seafood ceviche.

For Summerland’s first ever vintage of Pinot Gris, they choose the Los Alamos Vineyards, situated in Santa Barbara County, just north of the Santa Ynez Valley. The fruit is pressed whole cluster and fermented in stainless steel tanks for three months at a low temperature. This type of fermentation leads Pinot Gris to become more fruity and racy. The aromatics become very pronounced and the finish refreshing.

Sources for this wine were derived from Monterey County. The grapes were picked at the optimal ripeness in the early morning. In the winery, Summerland wine maker Etienne Terlinden pressed off the fruit into chilled tanks for settling. The clean juice was racked into temperature controlled stainless steel tanks for fermentation. This slow, controlled fermentation locks in the fresh, expressive flavors of the fruit.
