2015: Year of the Grape
Standing over the smoldering detritus of 2014, we are filled with tenuous optimism. Maybe this is THE year that solutions manifest, pieces fall into place, and everything just CLICKS. Wow. We're swept away by a great swell of confidence and hope and nausea. Maybe we shouldn't have set fire to that lacquered cabinet after all.
Features
2009 Roessler Cellars "Bluejay" Pinot Noir, Anderson Valley 750ml 3-Pack
Launching with a deep nose of dark fruit and sweet oak, the aromas bloom into earthy qualities of black plum, forest floor and mushroom. The mouthfeel is textured with rich tannins and a mélange of red and dark fruit character. Mushroom, chocolate, smoke and spice layer the palate, pulling a complex balance of fruit, earth, and structure through a long, textured finish.
The area west of Philo in Anderson Valley has always supported a large population of native blue jays. Because of this, the old locals came to refer to the area as ”Blue Jay” in the local Boontling dialect, and we have in turn taken this name for our Anderson Valley blended Pinot Noir. Each vineyard and block we blend into the BlueJay contributes its own unique character, and the wine exhibits this richness and complexity seamlessly.
