Give Us An S! Give us a Y!...
We're not cheerleaders. And if we were, we don't know nearly enough about football or basketball or any of those other sports that use cheerleading to actually cheer about them.
If we WERE cheerleaders, we'd probably cheer about this 2008 Renwood Amador County Estate Syrah. Why? Again, we know very little about sports and have no cheerleading experience, so why would we cheer about something else? We DO know that this wine has fruit flavors and aromas, though, so we can cheer about that.
All we need is some sort of cheer. Hmm..... how about this?
Wine, wine that's what we got.
Wine, wine we got a lot.
Wine, wine we got even more.
If you're a bulldog, let's hear you bark in an intimidating fashion!
(If you're not a bulldog, just pretend you are so that this cheer makes sense and we don't have to change that last line)
Pretty good, huh?
Features
2008 Amador County Estate Syrah 750ml 6-Pack
This 2008 Syrah is a dark plum color. The aromas are ripe plum and new oak. Scents of vanilla and caramel from the small oak barrel aging complement the fruit aromas and flavors. The wine has a great structure and will age nicely. It can be cellared for at least 10 years.
As an Estate Wine, the grapes come only from Veauta Ranch. The term Estate Bottled is reserved for the highest expression of a winemaker’s art. It is a strict code of conduct that the grapes and wine must be under the control of the winery from the care in the vineyard until the wine is bottled.

The growing season of 2008 started off with a week of very cold temperatures prior to bud break. As in the previous vintage, we had half the normal rainfall, so we are officially in drought conditions. The year finished well and rain held off until December.
After gentle crushing and destemming, the grapes were fermented in stainless steel tanks at moderately cool temperatures to retain varietal expression of the fruit. The finished wine was aged for 18 months in old French & American oak. This is a really great Syrah, and it will reward careful cellaring with a complex and flavorful wine even after 10 years.
