Wilkommen in Winetoberfest!
Winetoberfest: it's not just an empty, meaningless name for another typical Wine.Woot-Off! Oh, wait, that's exactly what it is. But who needs a snappy marketing label for great deals like these? (Of course, if you happen to have any ideas along those lines, let us know.)
Features
2003 Muir-Hanna Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley, Particelli Vineyards 750ml 2-Pack
The Cabernet Sauvignon fruit comes from the Particelli Vineyard in St. Helena, vertically trained cordons on six foot by eight foot spacing, oriented north-south, and planted on 101-14 rootstock. Two clones, 337 and 6, were used for the wine.
The must was inoculated with D254 yeast on the day of harvest and split between a small tank and 3 macro bins. The juice was pumped over and the macros punched down twice daily. It was pressed on Nov 3 when all measurable sugar was used, and racked. The malo-lactic culture was added Nov 6 and the conversion was complete by Dec 18. It was racked to barrels on Jan 14, 2004.
The wine was aged for twenty six months in French oak barrels, 20% of which were new. It was topped once per month for four months then the barrels were rolled on their side and topped once every three months. The wine was racked and returned to barrels twice during aging. A final racking preceded filtration. The wine was bottled on 3 March, 2006.
