2008 Lucas J. Pinot Noir, Jasper Family Vineyard, Russian River Valley 750ml 3-Pack
Nose: Primary grape and fruit punch with big power, bright raspberry and cherry undertones, like the Kool Aid guy busting through your wall; Lavender, little bit of oak and orange blossom – the nose is broad and loud just really big primary fruit characters screaming out of the glass
Palate: fresh raspberry and cherry cobbler, medium toasted oak, big acidity, long, delicate finish with nicely softened tannins, briary and a bit wild feeling, but overall a pretty subtle wine, like a wild boar wearing a monocle drinking tea (probably)
This wine is leaner on the palate than on the nose and opens a lot over time with a round, clean mouth feel. It will cellar for at least 8-10 years.
