2013 Jekyll Island Reserve Pinot Noir, Lodi 750ml 6-Pack
The first thing to note with this wine is its bright cherry red color. The aromas begin with raspberry and blackberry bramble, mixed with vanilla bean, mint, and clove. The entry is filled with crisp acidity and flavors of raspberry, strawberry and cranberry. The medium body gives way to spicier notes of fresh sage, and dried thyme and coriander. This fruit forward wine will complement any meal but especially if served with roasted chicken with Provincial herbs, Ahi tuna sashimi with a toasted sesame soy sauce, or pork medallion with a cherry compote glaze.
The grapes from fourth generation vineyards benefit from the deep and rich soils that make-up the western edge of the Lodi Appellation. The fruit benefits from warm sunny days and cool nights as a result of gentle breezes coming from the San Francisco Bay and the Delta waterways. This allows the fruit to mature and have a proper balance between fruit character and structure. The fruit was harvested at optimal ripeness and was crushed and fermented in stainless steel vessels. The wine was then aged in experienced barrels and allowed to age for twelve months. The blend was then created and prepared for bottling.
