2010 Russian Cuvee 750ml
90 Points - Wine Spectator
Russian Cuvee is the richest, most opulent of the Iron Horse bubblies, though it is technically a Brut. The dosage for this wine is 16 mls of special LEX (50% Pinot Noir, 50% Chardonnay). It offers accents of ripe Meyer lemon, toasted cinnamon and almond brioche.
By nose, caramel apple, nutmeg and orange zest. By mouth, ripe red apple, lime, brioche and brown sugar.
Food Pairing Notes: This is a perfect toasting wine. It is lovely with dessert, especially pumpkin, apple and pecan pies and anything to do with ginger and spice.
2012 Wedding Cuvee 750ml
Please add these new tasting notes and change the vintage from 2011 to 2012 on the wine title:
This is Iron Horse's most romantic bubbly. It is made from predominantly Pinot Noir and has a slight pink hue. You can debate whether it is a pale, golden Rose or a Blanc de Noirs. We describe it as dangerously, deliciously easy to drink, fruit forward, dry and elegant, with gorgeous tiny bubbles and a remarkably long finish.
By nose: raspberry, mandarin orange peel and nutmeg. In the mouth: stone fruit, pink grapefruit, Tahitian lime, blood orange, raspberry with a gentle mouthfeel.
Food Pairing Notes:
Pairs well with full flavored fish, pork chops, and chicken. Also try with crispy kale and stir-fried vegetables. All you really need is dark, bittersweet chocolate!
