Winespiration
Sometimes, in order to buy something, you need a little bit of inspiration. We know because we do too. Maybe you buy a movie ticket because the trailer inspired you to see it, or maybe you buy a table because seeing that table on display inspired you to make your home look nicer. But for wine, like this Inspiration Vineyards Chardonnay, what more inspiration do you need than the fact that you're getting four bottles of wine?
Better yet, you're getting four different types of wine: a 2011 Chardonnay Estate, a 2010 Chardonnay Estate, a 2011 Chardonnay Estate Reserve, and a 2010 Chardonnay Estate Reserve.
Do you really need inspiration to buy wines that are filled with fruit flavors and are from the Russian River Valley in California. Do you really need inspiration to breathe in the citrus aromas and apple flavors?
Maybe you do. We don't know. But when we see wine like this, we feel that's enough reason to buy it. And if you still need some inspiration, just remember that we're the ones selling it, and we like you. A lot. You wouldn't want to let us down, would you?
Features
2010 Chardonnay Estate, Russian River Valley 750ml
From Inspiration's own vineyard in the Russian River Valley, this wine was made entirely in stainless steel, following the methods and traditions found in Chablis, France. Warm days and cool nights naturally develop good acid, making this an ideal food wine. During fermentation, the wine was split into two separate lots, each using its own yeast in order to create a variety of flavor aromatics to work with at blending.
2010 Chardonnay, Estate Reserve, Russian River Valley 750ml
From Inspiration's own vineyard in the Russian River Valley, their reserve was harvested over a period of three weeks. It was then fermented in five separate lots using two different cultured yeasts and one natural yeast. What resulted was a fantastic selection of wines to choose from in putting together this blend. Using 10% new French Oak, they then refined their lots further. Their reserve is truly very special, because it is a blend of their best barrels to create a style that is reminiscent of the style of Chardonnay produced in Northern Burgundy.
2011 Chardonnay Estate Reserve, Russian River Valley 750ml
From the Inspiration vineyard in the Russian River Valley, this reserve is aged in a combination of French & European oak barrels. For this vintage, 12 % of their barrels are new, allowing Inspiration to produce a wine that is very French inspired and sur lees aged until bottling, employing a French technique called “batonage.” This reserve is truly very special, because it is a blend of the best barrels to create a style that is reminiscent of the style of Chardonnay produced in Northern Burgundy.

Inspiration Vineyards and Winery
- Owners:
- Barbara & Jon Phillips
- Founded:
- 2002
- Location:
- Sonoma County, CA
Barbara and I moved to Sonoma County 10 years ago because of our passion for great wine. After teaching about wine for 15 years, I was driven to follow my heart and become a wine maker. All of our friends kept telling us we were an Inspiration because we followed our dreams. Through hard work and determination, I was able to leave my fulltime corporate life three years ago and focus on making fantastic, balanced, food-friendly wines and offer them at a reasonable price.
Today, our winery produces approximately 1500 cases of wine annually; our average lot sizes are around 200 cases and can be as small at 20 cases, like our 100 year old “front yard” Zinfandel.
