Drink away on this day, a day of mourning.
Oh wait. Black Friday isn't a national day of mourning? Well heck! This calls for a celebration! You should buy more wine for drinking! You see what we did there? No matter how we spin it, Black Friday is all about you buying more wine! Yaaaaay wine!
Features
Much has been said to defame the character of the world’s most widely planted white grape variety. Critics argue that inherently Chardonnay lacks character, depth, and intrigue, often propped up with gobs of new oak and made using what one might call a ‘heavy hand’. Much like critics love to pull apart the actress that was once the darling of every film. To these critics we offer with a smile our Unoaked Chardonnay.
Stated simply in its title, the Unoaked Chardonnay is our effort to showcase the natural beauty of this classic starlet who has found an opportunity for redemption in the soils of Washington State.
Sourced from 5 different vineyards within the Columbia Valley, our Unoaked Chardonnay is eager to impress with bright aromas of lemon meringue, candied pineapple, and apricot. Beneath the surface lie more subtle aromas of elderflower, hazelnut, and cream with a slight mineral tinge that offers a preview to the taut-acidity that forms the backbone of the palate.
Fresh and light, our Unoaked Chardonnay removes the heavy jewelry and strips off the layers of heavy make-up that have acquired over the years to reveal a grape variety that is still young at heart and with a thing or two to teach the new generation of fashionable white varietals fresh off the boat from Europe.

"Strong Root, Great Fruit"
Here in the Ahtanum Valley, just west of Yakima, our ancestors chose the agrarian life, all the way back in 1897. The simple joys of our rural community, and the products it bears, still speak to us today.
In 2004, the fifth generation of Gilberts began the work of producing true-to-varietal wines from our vineyards in Washington state. What we found out is that wine brings us closest to family and friends and the truth and beauty that we crave. We’d rather be on our patio, candles lit, with a great dinner and a bottle of wine than almost anywhere else. We are privileged to share that with you through our wines produced with great care from grapes grown on the Wahluke Slope, in the Horse Heaven Hills, and the Ahtanum Valley.
Besides making wine, we make our own fun, which involves throwing a party (or two) and inviting our favorite musicians and artists to share their talents with us.
Growing and creating products and experiences that matter is both our ends and our means. We believe that what we’re doing matters: we’re making an authentic product that comes from the place that we love. In a time when everything comes from everywhere, our wines come from a place that isn’t anywhere else. Cheers!
