Here we go again!
Fresh start, guys and gals. This is gonna be our big year. We're gonna cut out the sugar, start making our bed in the morning, and make a concerted effort to hide our prison tattoos. We're gonna reduce our soda intake and stop lighting fires in public restrooms. Yep, 2014 is gonna be great!
Features
The twenty-two mile long Alexander Valley AVA flanks the Russian River in northern Sonoma County and is renowned for its diverse topography and volcanic soils. First planted to wine grapes by namesake pioneer Cyrus Alexander in 1846, the valley is one of the state’s oldest and most distinguished growing regions.
In crafting Reserve Alexandre we look to our vineyard sources that consistently produce grapes with abundant fruit and rich structure. Low-yielding vines from high-elevations, hillsides, and bench land sites produce grape berries with excellent concentration, unparalleled finesse and subtlety. Each of the five varietals brings a unique character to the blend. Cabernet Sauvignon is the backbone and framework of the wine, Merlot fleshes out the body and adds to the juicy palate, Malbec brings the floral component and sumptuous spice, Petit Verdot adds a measure of tannin and lovely color, and an aliquot of Cabernet Franc adds brown spice and a sophisticated dried herb note to the final blend. Each component is vinted individually and the varied lots are blended in stages and then matured as a single wine for fourteen months.
2009 Reserve Alexandre Meritage, Alexander Valley 3-Liter
In crafting this wine, we strive to deliver the generous fruit of the Alexander Valley appellation’s best vineyard sites in a framework of tannins capable of long-term aging, but with sufficiently supple tannin structure to allow pleasurable drinkability in its youth.
All facets of production from barrel and yeast strain selection to fermentation temperature, duration of aging, fining and bottling are customized to best suit the style of each component wine. While the percentages of each of the five varietal components vary from year to year, the style of this age-worthy wine is consistent across the vintages and a vertical tasting will reveal the remarkable consistency in style. Blending is conducted in stages and once the final blend is assembled it is matured in French Oak barrels for 12 months before bottling then aged an additional 10 to 12 months before release.

One of California’s oldest and most award-winning wineries, Geyser Peak was founded in 1880, a pioneer of the Alexander Valley in Sonoma County. Perched on a hillside across from Geyser Peak Mountain, this beautiful setting overlooks Geyserville, the Russian River and the northern end of Alexander Valley.
A long heritage of winemaking with a relatively recent resurgence, Geyser Peak Winery's roots in Sonoma County winemaking run deep. Founded by Augustus Quitzow, one of Sonoma County's pioneer winemakers, the original winery was built in Geyserville in 1882. Perched on a hillside across from Geyser Peak Mountain, the winery claimed a view of the clouds of thermal steam that billowed from the mountain's summit.
Today, Geyser Peak is one of the most award-winning wineries in Sonoma County. It consistently garners some of the most prestigious awards in winemaking, including Winery of the Year and Winemaker of the Year honors. Its outstanding team of winemakers and viticulturalists are noted for fruit-forward, food-friendly wines from prime vineyard sources in the Alexander Valley.
