2009 Bodegas Leda Mas de Leda Tempranillo 750ml 6-Pack
Bodegas Leda produces great multi-terroir wines made from the Tempranillo grape variety that is harvested from very old vines. The centennial vines grow in a range of unique soil types that stretch throughout the Duero Valley, giving this wine a unique and multidimensional sense of place. By carefully selecting the individual vineyard blocks each and every vintage, the Leda team ensures its followers that only the most expressive and naturally concentrated fruit will give life to this project year-after-year. With a limited production of 7,500 cases, Leda wines are expressive and harmonic. Containing roots that reflect the richness, strength and heterogeneity of its origin, Más de Leda is in a class of its own.
Leda’s winemaking is the sole responsibility of the García family who co-owns the winery along with Masaveu Bodegas. Eduardo García, son of the prestigious winemaker Mariano García (ex-winemaker of Vega Sicilia) is the Technical Director of the winery.
Contains seductive and subtle aromas of blackberry liqueur, aromatic herbs and sweet spice. Compact, fine and round on the palate with a fluid texture and smooth tannins, this wine is uncomplicated, undemanding and easy to drink. A fine, modern red wine from the Spanish Duero Valley, Más de Leda is meant to be enjoyed with a wide variety of foods.

Winemaker Notes: Due to the Garcías’ long-standing relationships with many of Castilla y León’s top viticulturalists, they are given the unique flexibility to select the very best old-vine Tempranillo grown at a variety of elevations and in a multitude of different soil types. Made from a selection of extremely low-producing vines, the average yield of these ancient plants is close to 2,500 kg per hectare. Bottled after spending 15 months’ aging in 90% French and 10% American oak, this wine is ready to drink now or lie down for up to 5-7 years.
Vintage: A drier year than normal, where a slightly rainy spring was followed by a long, dry summer. Good diurnal temperature changes throughout the month of September, however, led to excellent grape maturation and healthy cluster formation.
