Agent Provocateur

You don't want to be the agent for lackadaisical stagnance, do you?

Now listen here. I may look like a wine bottle to you, but I'm not just some ordinary run of the mill dinner drink here. I just want to get that straight. I'm the one and only bonafide Agent for Change Tempranillo, singer/songwriter/actor, and his double-act partner, Mr. Cab Franc.

Change is a busy man, and someone's gotta work for him. I get him and the blend gigs, and I land them roles in movies. Don't ignore me just because of my bright cherryish fruit or cocoa aromas and flavors. That's not all I am. I'm also a wheeling dealing Hollywood agent (actually, I'm from Santa Ynez Valley, but that's a small detail).

So, you say you want to talk to THE Change Tempranillo? Then you're gonna have to talk to me first.

2010 Agent for Change Tempranillo, Santa Ynez Valley 750ml 3-Pack

Wow! If you love Spanish wine, you must try this varietally correct Cal-Iberico version of the most widely planted grape in the world (of course 90% of it is in Spain). A touch of American oak makes this a ringer for any Reserva Rioja or Ribera, but it's from Santa Barbara County.  Sustainably farmed in Santa Ynez and produced at Demetria winery, this is a wine that is great now and will benefit from up to five years of aging.

The fruit shines through with bright red raspberry, a touch of bittersweet chocolate, and fantastic fruit/acid balance.  Supple and smooth, with bright cherryish fruit and cocoa aromas and flavors, it shows the sweet fruit The oak is subtle, but present, creating a graceful, slightly creamy texture.

2010 Agent for Change Central Coast Red 750ml

Wow! A juicy, balanced blend of Cabernet Franc and Tempranillo you can feel good about drinking! Dark berries, toasted coffee, vanilla and a hint of fennel lure you in at first sniff. The palate is ripe with black cherries, complemented by a hint of caramel and a slight spice. The finish is surprisingly soft and supple…  This is a wine you just want to keep drinking!

Perfect for roast game such as duck and pheasant, or friendly fare like pork chops or BBQ!

Greg Martellotto
Founded:
2003
Location:
Poway, CA

Martellotto Wines began in a 17th century trullo, an iconic house in Alberobello (the place of pretty trees) in southern Italy. Uniquely constructed without mortar, topped with slate roofs, and recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage site, the trullo is the recessed image in the 2006 vintage front labels.

Greg Martellotto’s family has been making wine for generations, and his grandfather brought traditional winemaking practices to the U.S. when he immigrated to Ellis Island in 1909. Greg’s unique skill set includes: winemaking experience in California, Italy and Mexico, launching several wine brands, building a successful import/distribution company and developing long-term relationships with growers, winery owners, and clients.

Greg’s intention is to make remarkable wines of consequence, consistency, value, and varietal expression. A vineyard first philosophy focuses efforts on farming (including biodynamic and sustainable agriculture) with gentle handling in the winery and minimal intervention. Martellotto wines are allocated, vineyard designate wines that are a pleasure to share.
