Features

Kochere from Yirgacheffe, Ethiopia, 12 oz.

1000 Faces Coffee Company is pleased to bring back Keffa Coffee’s Yirgacheffe, Kochere, again this year. Their efforts in Ethiopia to promote sustainability and equity are points of pride and yield a high-scoring 90+ cup of amazingness. Packed with super-fruit dark berry flavors, and a light, vanilla-cream like body, this baby’s got the yirgacheffe profile wrapped around its finger. This heirloom bean has experienced exceptional processing, from the washing to the raised bed drying. We’re also pleased to note its arrival in grain-pro bags, keeping it supah-fresh and safe from moisture or other damaging elements on its way to our roastery.

El Meridiano from Tolima, Colombia, 12 oz.

In 2011 1000 Faces Coffee started exploring the various micro-regions of Colombia by conducting a series of roasting training courses for Colombian producers. With the guidance of Alejandro Cadena, they were able to find a small group of family farmers near the township of Rioblanco that had a quality 1000 Faces Coffee Company was excited about. This coffee has taste notes of wild cherry and ginger snaps, a lively acidity, medium body, and a pristine aftertaste.

Fazenda Ambiental Fortaleza from Mococa, Brazil, 12 oz.

Combining layers of deep earth and chocolate with a surprising amount of red fruit, nuance is this coffee’s middle name. 1000 Faces Coffee Company's newest Latin American exudes a woodsy aroma and inherits a complex and layered mouthfeel. The aftertaste is clean and fresh. The Brazilian producers of this gem, Bob-o-link Alliance, are committed to environmental stewardship, quality, and sustainability. Their small property farms are run by single or extended families, all of whom share the vision of producing the most excellent coffee through ethical means.

Aldo's Blend, Season Dark Blend, 12 oz.

1000 Faces Coffee Company house dark roast blend. For the loyal supporters who love their company but are nostalgic for taste notes reminiscent of Catfish Hunter or Charlie Parker: dark, oily, stanky, musty, full-bodied, peppery, meaty, and seasoned. This is a blend of Indonesian and South American greatness. If you like full-bodied coffee, this is the choice for you.

Vendor Details

1000 Faces Coffee Company

Founded:
2006
Owners:
Benjamin Meyers and Jason Mann
Location:
Athens, GA
Our name comes from Joseph Campbell’s book, The Hero With A Thousand Faces. We believe, like Campbell did, that there is more to life than commercial success or representational living. As Campbell said, “a hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself.” There is a greatness to be had from life (and coffee), only discoverable by taking on this heroic role and giving yourself over to whichever passion in life most preoccupies you. By immersing ourselves in the coffee world and introducing the Athens market to remarkable, specialty coffees, we believe we’re leading the heroic lives that Joseph Campbell envisioned.

1000 Faces is an adaptive business model that can work between multiple continents and communities, through a culture of friendship, and an unwavering commitment to quality, justice, and equity. The following principles are at the core of 1000 Faces coffee.

Relationship Driven: 1000 Faces considers the customers and farmers with whom it engages to be partners, rather than consumers and producers. These dynamic and direct partnerships are essential to our mission, and to creating truly great coffee.
Stewardship: Environmentally sound land tewardship is intrinsic to our mission, and must be a fundamental concern to all our farming partners. We believe there are direct correlations between how one stewards their land, and the quality of the products that is born from it.

Equity: Every face in a thousand is equal and necessary in front of the cup. Furthermore, we believe that everyone involved in the 1000 Faces experience MUST benefit directly and equally. Transparency: Business is intended as an open-source democratic process where voice is valued and informed. By making our practices and strategies available, we hope to be held to constant performance improvement.
