A lovelorn nurse wonders….Did his Pinkie make a promise his heart couldn’t keep?
“Scalpel please, nurse.” I knew that to Dr. Polk this was just a routine operating room request. But in the two weeks since I’d been hired at the Sweltering Palms Hand Clinic, these were the first words the dashing finger surgeon had ever spoken to me.
I handed him the scalpel. Our fingers brushed. Even through the latex gloves, I felt a tingle of electricity…love electricity. Did he feel it too? Later, after the operation ended badly, I found Dr. Polk in the staff lounge. He looked so handsome, so brooding there in the shadows, idly distracting himself with a Chinese finger cuff. I felt an irresistible need to go to him. “Doctor, is there…is there anything I can do?”
He sighed and stared at his hands. “I’ve never lost a patient like this. My hands, they’ve never let me down before.” He looked up at me, his eyes yearning for answers.
“Your hands are wonderful.” I assured him. “They’re the most wonderful hands I’ve ever seen.”
His pinky reached for mine. I gave him the finger. “Do you swear?” he asked. Just then, a tall blonde nurse in glamorous leopard-print scrubs swept into the room. She gasped in horror at our united fingers. I burned with shame. She turned and ran.
2012 Woot Cellars Pinkie Swear Rosé Wine, Sonoma County 750ml 6-Pack
Meeker Vineyard combines a medley of varietals sourced from the Sonoma Valley led by Cabernet Sauvignon and Zinfandel to arrive at an approachable, dry, red fruit centric food friendly wine.
The nose is bright with cran-raspberry and ripe nectarines. There are overtones of sweet floral notes like honeysuckle and orange blossom with a very light touch of pepperiness. The color is a bright orange-magenta.
On the palate the wine sings with tart cherry limeade fruit character and a round, fleshy apricot mouthfeel and finish. There is a light minerality to the mid-palate with a touch of pepper and spice, which leads to a bright finish with a touch of grape tannin and an excellent balance of acidity and roundness.
