2009 Woot Cellars Toothsteinn The Red, The Grimy Wyvern Wine-Hall Cabernet Franc 750ml 3-Pack

A very racy style, with bright raspberry, kirsch and mulled strawberry noted lined with lots of chalk and earth.  Bergamot and cherry pit notes enter the finish, with rguit slowly filling in at the end.

All grapes were crushed and destemmed into two-ton fermenters and punched down by hand daily.  Pressing was carried out at dryness.  Clean racked wine was placed in 100% French oak barrels, 30% of which were new and 70% 2nd year French Oak.  the wine remained in barrel for 24 months.

2011 Woot Cellars Phat Goose Red Blend, Central Coast 750ml 3-Pack

A blend specially made for Woot!

This Southern Rhone-inspired blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre showcases the best of these varietals from California's Central Coast. Grenache brings berry and spice notes to the mix while Syrah provides color and tannins and Mourvedre adds acidity and structure.

With more Syrah , this wine’s deeper indigo color hints at its ripe blackberry aromas and core flavor of dark fruits with a note of black pepper.  A sip reveals a balance of strong acidity and fine grain tannins supported by undertones of spice and blueberries.

The dry finish leaves the slightest hint of vanilla on the palate.  The harmonious balance of fruit, tannin and acidity makes this the friendliest and most versatile of food wines.

2010 Pour Pour Me Fruit Bomber 750ml 3-Pack

The Zinfandel grapes sourced for this wine are from relatively new plantings in and around the bay area town of Oakley in the north-east corner of Contra Costa County. It is a blend of 76% Zinfandel, 16% Petite Sirah, 6% Carignane, and 2% Alicante Bouschet. All the grapes in this blend come from vineyard blocks with extremely sandy-loam soils called Delhi loam.

Oakley is located at the apex of the Suisun Bay where the Sacramento and San Joaquin Rivers meet. Over time these rivers have dumped sand in deep deposits which the bay winds have pushed into sand dunes.  This ancient dirt is classified as Delhi loam and is considered to have the lowest organic material and the highest sand content than any other loam soil. These soil characteristics result in a very low vigor medium for the vines to grow in. The temperature of all the vineyard blocks in this blend are moderated by the massive cooling air flows through the San Francisco Bay into the vast Central Valley of California slowing down grape maturity and maintaining bright acidities.  This sand is also phylloxera resistant so many of these vineyards are own rooted. Grapes have been planted and have been growing in this area for more than 150 years.

At less than 20 years of age, these younger vine Zinfandel grapes show the typical raspberry to blackberry fruit so dominate in the older vines in the area validating this Contra Costa appellation. The “field blend” contingent of this wine adds structure, color, cherry and black fruit flavors.  There is a deep concentration of ripe black cherries and spice with a minerality (earthy berry) sneaking through. The month-feel is rich and balanced with a lingering peppery finish.

2008 Woot Cellars Adequate Gift 750ml 3-Pack

This Contra Costa County Red will prove more than Adequate with its rich blend of flavors. The fleshy mouthfeel of the cherry and berry may be just the thing to make Uncle Petey forget you never visited him in the slammer. And, surely, Aunt Brenda's beau won't bring up that uppercut you clobbered him with at the family reunion when he gets a mouthful of the subtlety of herbs like sage, rosemary, and thyme.
