Features

2009 Estate Cabernet Franc 750ml

One of the best-kept secrets in Napa Valley is the outstanding quality of Cabernet Francs.  This wine has a multi-faceted nose of rich oak, white pepper, mocha and anise.  The wine has a big finish full of deep black raspberry flavor and hints of  leather.   The 2008 vintage sold out in less than 2 months.  Only 98 cases were bottled.

2009 Estate Sangiovese 750ml

This 2009 Sangiovese is White Cottage Ranch's version of a Cal-Ital/Super Tuscan grown at 1700 feet elevation in Napa Valley. This wine has layers of rhubarb, blood orange and tarragon notes (tarragon is typical of Howell Mountain).  Crisp acidity and dusty mixed berries finish this wine with a rustic texture.   This style of wine can be paired with many different foods from rich tomato based sauces to savory cheese selections, but can be great with just a good friend and good conversation.

2008 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, Howell Mountain 750ml

A great example of Howell Mountain Cabernet from a strong vintage.  It’s tannic and youthfully rude in fruity flavor, and the oak barrel influence presently dominates. But it’s finely made and pure, showing its Howell Mountain roots, and should easily develop bottle complexity for many years.  Balanced for enjoyment now but can easily gain complexity with additional cellaring.  Very limited availability.

2006 Estate Merlot, Howell Mountain 750ml

This Merlot balances both ripe cherry and chocolate flavors.  The 2006 vintage of estate Merlot is a beautiful ruby color, with aromas of raspberry, mint and cherry. On the palate, flavors of pomegranate, honey and cedar ease into a round mouthfeel and a long and lingering finish with just a hint of creamy cherry. This is a beautifully balanced wine with firm tannins – drink now or cellar for a few years and really get the benefit of its great structure.

2009 Estate Sangiovese 750ml

  • Alcohol: 14.5%

White Cottage Ranch's Howell Mountain Estate is situated in a prime-growing region for the Bordeaux varietals. However, as the hillsides roll along the ridge the exposures and soil profiles change dramatically. They identified a few particular vineyard blocks that were suited for old world viticulture so they planted them to Sangiovese. The soil is shallow and the grapevines struggle to ripen their fruit. The yield per acre is very small while the concentration and character of the resulting wine is so exciting that they look forward to this challenge every vintage.
